“Wonderful apartment”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2016

Just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay at the Chain Locker apartment. What a find! We were travelling with my 90 year mother who was born and grew up in Tynemouth and we were on a nostalgia trip. The apartment was extremely comfortable for us and very well equipped - we have previously stayed in other properties for larger groups, but they haven't been as well equipped as Chain Locker. Paul was there to meet us when we arrived and was so friendly and helpful. Everything had been thought of from toiletries in the bathroom, to fresh milk, bread and butter in the fridge for our arrival. The apartment is in a quiet location and having the reserved car park space so close to the property was ideal, especially as we could bring the car to the bottom of the ramp entrance at the front of the property so that mum didn't have far to walk. Being on the first floor, the view of the river from the kitchen window was great, especially the sight of the Norwegian ferry coming in, just as the photograph on the website showed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't think of any way that the apartment could be improved. Thank you Paul and Lynne

Thank you Fiona. So pleased all of you enjoyed your stay. It was good to see your mum enjoying her memories. Thanks again Paul and Lynne.

“Fantastic!!”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2013

This apartment is fantastic. It really is home from home. It's location is wonderful and the views from the windows are stunning. The apartment has everything you could wish for and more!! Public transport is superb from the ferry to South Shields to the bus and metro into Newcastle. Whether it is business or pleasure that brings you too the NE you will not find more comfortable accommodation. Lynne and John ensure from the moment of booking nothing is too much trouble to them. That's why we will certainly be returning to the Chainlocker !!

“Fantastic Appartment with a Friendly Welcome and Great Service”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2013

I stayed several times over the January/February 2013 period while working in the Newcastle area for an extended period. The apartment is fantastic, with excellent amenities. It is located in a quiet area yet it is opposite the passenger ferry between North & South Shields. This affords it excellent bus links as well. Lynne & John Nicholson are very friendly and nothing was to much trouble to sort out (e.g. collection/return of keys). If I find myself working in the area again, I will most definitely be back.

“Fantastic home from home”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2012

Spent Christmas there whilst visiting our daughter and family. Brilliant apartment, spotlessly clean, well equipped. The owners Lynne and John couldn't have done more to make our stay pleasant. They even decorated it for Christmas and left us presents. Ideally located, superb views of the Tyne Also stayed again in February 2012 and are planning our next visit.

“Brilliant..great welcome and wonderful location”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2012

Enjoyed the pleasures of North Shields and the Tyne from this very well looked after and appointed apartment. Lynn and her husband were very welcoming..they greeted us personally and even posted on something we left behind. Fish quay, Tynemouth, good beer and more within easy distance. Views onto the river and ability to see ships and more such a bonus.......Seaton Delaval Hall a NT property not far away and very worth a visit. Keel Row book shop in Preston Road a great way to spend an afternoon. Local hostelry certainly worth a visit for live music, quizzes and fine ale.

“A home from home”

Reviewed 24 May 2011

No 7 is a dinky little one bed apartment at the back of the building. The apartment is decorated and kitted out to a very high standard and is both luxurious and comfortable at the same time. I am staying here on business and the apartment is my home for the next few months. It is a lovely home from home and so much better than staying in a hotel. The apartment block is situated opposite the Shields Ferry terminal and a short walk way from the Metro station. Fish Quay, where there are several lovely (and very popular) restaurants, is a 5 - 10 minute walk away. You can walk along the coast to Tynemouth, Cullercoats and Whitley Bay in one direction and to Royal Quays in the other.

“Fantastic”

Reviewed 19 May 2011

Having sat-naved our way there we were met by the owner and after parking in the private car park showed us to the flat. It was way beyond our expectations and superb quality. For us the location was ideal for either using our car or public transport. We will be using it again.

“Very comfortable, affordable apartment.”

Reviewed 18 May 2011

Warmly welcomed by owners and found apartment very well equipped with lovely extras like cakes and buscuits etc. Very clean and lots of things to make our stay better like cds, books etc. Nice to have the water front view and opted for this location because of this nice aspect. Needed to travel by car for most activities but not a problem as parking was located nearby as were some lovely restaurants (especially the Italian) and pubs which could be walked to along the key side. Would return to apartment without hesitation.

There is a bus and ferry service outside(100 metres)the apartment which has links to the whole of Tyneside via the Tyne and Wear Metro, so although a car maybe usefull, for the wider region,it is not required for Tyneside attractions.

“A lovely stay in an excellent apartment”

Reviewed 16 May 2011

Stayed at the Chain Locker for my niece's local wedding. The owners were lovely and welcoming and the apartment had everything we needed and was warm. At present they are developing the area so there is some work going on nearby, but this doesn't intrude on the apartment once inside. The area is fascinating with a fascinating walk with information boards nearby and the ferry over to South Shields about 100m away.

At long last the work outside has finished and what an improvement it has made the lcoal bus stop is now only 100 metres away and gives access to the whole of tyneside.
