“Just what we were looking for”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2017

We needed somewhere to stay while I attended my best friends wedding and where we were in easy access to Rutland Water, which we explored for the rest of the weekend. This place was perfect, with two dogs (one of which likes to escape) the enclosed garden was brilliant and we had no worries about letting them out. The door at the bottom of the stairs was an added bonus as neither of our dogs are allowed upstairs. No problems with booking and Simon emailed and text messaged us all the information we needed prior to our visit. We were very comfortable here, it suited us well. Great Location, Great Cottage, Great Weekend Away.

“perfect retreat!!”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2016

What a fantastic property. The accommodation was excellent with plenty of room to spread out. The local pub provided a great evening meal on Saturday (we also had lunch there as well). Local to Rutlands towns and the water. Could not fault this at all. Mel was on hand if we had any problems - which we did not to be honest.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your nice comments. We are pleased you had such a wonderful time. Happy New Year 2016.

“We love this place! And we loved the butterflies in the garden!”

Reviewed 20 Nov 2013

This is a genuine old English Countryside cottage (must be 300 years old?) We returned to Rutland again for the second time since 2009 and thankfully we managed to get a booking in this cottage again. When we booked it this time, there was four adults and two teenagers and two dogs and the place doesn't feel cramped! I dispute the accuracy of another review here as this is the second time we've stayed here and we feel that the photos look exactly what the place is like. Both times, we have found it warm and welcoming. We were left a welcome pack which included tea, coffee, sugar, fruit juice, bread milk and more (not the cheap stuff either)! One thing that had changed is the large Buddleia bush that grown in the back garden and in the mornings it is completely covered in beautiful butterflies; it really was quite magical, we've never seen anything like it. My wife and I have promised ourselves a visit back in the winter, just the two of us, so we can enjoy the peace and quiet and the log fire! ;)
