"Elegant, serene surrondings. Private yet sociable when required."
French country elegance mixed with functional city necessities made life easy on this holiday. The owners, Jorje and Ani welcomed us to The Laurier with plates of home grown fresh figs and home produced wine which relaxed us all into our ambient surroundings. After freshening up from our journey we were shown around the grounds with Jorje and introduced to other visiting families. This was a great start to our stay. The kids were happy with the pool, the park and lots of other friendly kids; I was happy learning about wine making down in the cellar with the owner, Jorje. My wife was happy to soak up some rays for once because the kids were content. During our holiday my youngest was poorly with ear ache which is no fun in a foreign land. Ani was brilliant! She swiftly drove us to the nearest Doctors and within hours our little one was on the mend. Having help like this was invaluable because our French is weak and in a mild panic with a screaming child we would have struggled to find a surgery. Location wise our gite was superb. It was quiet and private for us as a family but offered a large enough outdoor seating area to offer a social gathering if the mood took us. All the gites open inward and outward. Inward they open to the quadrant where my children often met with other children to play before going off to the park or arranging a 'meet' at the pool. Outward,'Le Laurier' had a private garden which was a peaceful haven for a quiet read. Food was plentiful when you know where and when to shop. Jorje and Ani advised us on where to go for what food and what times were best. This saved us a great deal of time dragging kids around food halls/markets and meant that we could eat like Kings for a fair price in the comfort of beautiful and safe surroundings. Over all this place worked for us because we could relax as a family in a safe, friendly and beautiful French setting.
