Welcome to les Chenes (The Oaks). This popular 2 bedroomed (1 double, 1 twin) country home offers a peaceful and comfortable haven for you to return to after exploring the beautiful area surrounding La Roche Bernard and is perfectly placed for visiting the sandy beaches, fantastic coves and many inland attractions of South Brittany.
Nestling in rural France the well-equipped gite of of les Chenes sits on the edge of the historic village of Sainte Anne with its 16th century chapel and is part of a traditional Breton farmhouse, with 2 foot thick granite stone walls, under a slate roof.
The cottage of les Chenes offers a lovely base to explore from, but, with its pretty south facing garden, you may just want to stay 'home'!
The surrounding area is of mixed woodland, cider apple orchards and farmland and is 5 minutes from the Vilaine River, so absolutely perfect for birdwatching, walking, cycling, sailing and generally exploring the beautiful area surrounding La Roche Bernard. A scenic 20 minute drive takes you to the Bretagne south coast, so again les Chenes is perfectly placed for visiting the sandy beaches & fantastic coves, as well as the many inland attractions of South Brittany.
With easy access from the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe, Les Chenes is privately owned and available all year for holidays or as a house-hunting base, while you search this beautiful area for a cottage of your own.

"Heaven in Brittany"
This is the review that we put into the "Livre D'or" when we left Les Chenes. It is the 4th time we have stayed there (this year for 3 weeks) and we love the area so much we are hoping to move from England to live in the Morbihan. The gîte has everything you could wish for and Mel and John are wonderful hosts. OK - this is what I wrote: Once again, Mel and John, Margot, Ginger and her companions, thank you for making our holiday in the gîte such a good one. As always, you laid on the beautiful weather for us. We visited all our ‘old haunts’, like La Gacilly and Rochefort-en-Terre, and some new ones. We followed one suggestion in the Livre D’Or and visited Questembert market on our first Monday. Everyone is so friendly – the lady who runs the mobile ‘posh tea’ caravan who sold us loose Gun Powder tea and do-it-yourself tea bags to use for steeping it – one of the many cake sellers and the olive sellers. We had chats with so many stallholders and came away with wonderful artisan bread and other treats. We visited La Roche Bernard market on one of our Thursdays and that was a first for us too, as was our trip on the Bateau Margot. Pontivy, which is a little way from you, was fascinating. Our favourite beach is still PennLann and we love the bistro there. Pornic too is worth a visit, especially if you haven’t been over the St Nazaire bridge. In the docks at the moment you can see the largest cruise liner in the world being built! The Rochefort-en-Terre Vide Grenier was amazing with the entire old town being closed and lined with stalls. The Rieux Vide Grenier was up to standard too! The most surprising find was the village of Lauzach, with its Korean war cemetery and the fantastic lake with floating duck house – a wonderfully peaceful place. We became annual members of the Branféré Animal Park again and spent three days there! Don’t miss the bird displays where you can have pelicans sitting next to you, quite contentedly! We can’t wait to come back to the Morbihan!

"Book early! fantastic destination for a relaxing holiday"
We had a wonderful week in Les Chenes. The lovely rustic accommodation (with comfortable doublebed mattress) has all you need and more, set in lovely garden from where you have the chance to see the sun going down. My kids enjoyed lighting the fire morning and night and going on the owners' donkey! Situated in the countryside close to lots of different places of interest, including the unforgettable village of La Roche Bernard 5mns away - renowned village with a few awards and a beautiful bridge and port and lots of restaurants. Search La Roche Bernard on google, admire the views and book this gite!!

"Home from Home Gite"
This was our fourth stay at Les Chenes it just feels like coming home Mel and John are both so hospitable and generous nothing is too much trouble for them. The gite is very well equipped with high quality pots and pans ect the place is compact and easy to keep warm WIFI and English TV are useful.. La Roche Bernard is only a ten minute drive away and Redon not much further The mighty river Villain is within walking distance St Dolay has a great bakery and a couple of good bars.As we stay for 3 or 4 weeks per visit we enjoy staying in and cooking lovely local produce on some days there is even a very small producers market in the village every Wednesday evening. we are both disabled but manage at Les Chenes very well because Melany and John go out of there way to make sure that all our needs are met
