Description

This spacious fourth floor apartment of 85 sq. m is in the Musiciens quarter, an area built in the age of elegance at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century. It is a largely residential area, but with good local shops nearby, and is very conveniently situated, with the beach, railway station and the main shopping area on Rue Jean Medecin only a 5-10 minutes walk away.

The apartment, served by an elevator, has a spacious hall with living/dining area on the right. Two sets of french windows lead out onto the west-facing terrace where you can eat or enjoy an evening sun-downer. To the left of the hall there are two large double bedrooms situated at the back, both having access to the bathroom that has a bath and shower. Toilet facilities are separate. There is also a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering. All linen/towels including beach towels provided.

For entertainment there is cable television for French and English news channels, a DVD player,

The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region

Nice provides an ideal base to explore the whole of the Alpes-Maritimes, whether it is along the coast or into the mountains, and most of it is easily accessible by public transport using the train or the excellent bus network. The train ride eastwards towards the Italian border via Monte Carlo and Menton gives the most spectacular views of the coast and with none of the traffic problems. And westwards, Cannes and Antibes are less than an hour away. For something a bit different, try the Chemin de Fer de Provence, a small-guage railway that takes you right into the heart of the mountains.

If you want to drive, why not try the Auto-Bleu? This is a new system of electric cars run by Nice Council, with a depot close by the apartment. This will enable you to explore the many small hill towns around the area, the most popular being St Paul de Vence and Mougins, home of Matisse, Picasso and others.

Nice

Nice has something for everyone. In the summer it draws crowds to the beach, but the climate makes it a great all year round resort. And it is a great city to wander around and explore.

The Musiciens quarter where the apartment is situated was built at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries with many elegant squares and belle époque architecture, which lead down to the Promenade and the iconic Hotel Negresco - a major Nice landmark. The old quarter beneath the castle has quite a different flavour and is an endless place to explore with many small shops and excellent restaurants. And if you want some peace, the Monastery, Matisse Museum and Roman remains at Cimiez, a hill above Nice, will provide it.

But most people find the Promenade des Anglais irresistible, either for some exercise or simply to people watch...

“Excellent, clean, spacious apartment in convenient location”

We had a excellent stay in Nice, basing ourselves in this apartment. From booking to arriving, the whole process was made easy by Pat who manages the property and we were welcomed by her on arrival at the apartment. It is very easy to reach from the airport by bus to the train station followed by a very short walk. We walked everywhere, in Nice, it's so easy to stroll down to the beach or head over and explore the old town. The beauty of this apartment is it is so well equipped and has a lovely terrace. We also enjoyed it's character unlike some of the newer built apartments or staying in a hotel, much more relaxing. A really nice touch was the wine, cheese and baguette for us on arrival and that Pat ensured we knew where the local supermarket and bulangerie were along with any other landmarks, we were made to feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend this apartment.

The apartment was beautifully furnished and even had wifi and digital tv, not that we stayed in but the 2012 Olympics were on!! The old fashioned lift to the forth floor was actually a sweet novelty and very French. The location was perfect as the main trainline was 2 blocks north, the beach 5 blocks south and the main shopping street which was fab was under 10 stroll east. We travelled with an 8 yr old and had no problems, would definatly stay again. Thank you.
