Location description from owner

The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region

The old city is the most picturesque areas of Nice and is sandwiched between the long beach and the Parc du Chateau, a large luxuriant municipal park built on the hill between the old town and the port.
In an environment of baroque architecture, you will discover colours and light of Cours Saleya with its famous Flower Market, the place Rossetti with its Italian atmosphere, the place du Palais ... but also the narrow streets, the " trompe-l'oeil " faades and the terraces in the shade of parasols, the numerous churches and the steps which lead up to the magnificent park of the chateaux.
The best way to discover all these treasures is on foot in order to fully appreciate the unique atmosphere which reigns in this neighbourhood. Nice is one of the sunniest places in France with over 300 days of sunshine a year. Temperatures reach 35 degrees in late July/Early August and rarely drop below freezing in winter.
Behind nice the alps rise steeply so fresh mountain air is only an hour's drive away (or in winter - skiing).

Nice

There are many museums and festivals in nice, most within walking distance of the apartment - for example, the both the Museum of Modern Art and the Palais Lascaris are less than a kilometre away.
The Cours Saleya market is a vibrant and enlivening sight every day Tuesday to Sunday (Mondays it is replaced by an antiques market), and in the evenings the streets of the old town are filled with the tables of the small restaurants and bars.
There are so many events it is impossible to list them all, please check the town's website for a full list:

I spent 2 very enjoyable weeks here on my own apart from 4 days with my daughter. The apartment is lovely and bright and very convenient for the market, the beach, the gardens and the trams. It has wifi and the bed is very comfy! Hopefully I will be back next year.

“Perfect location to explore Nice”

Reviewed 5 May 2012

We stayed at Nick’s apartment in Nice for a week and had a fabulous time. The apartment is located perfectly in the old city and is in the middle of activity yet it is quiet and peaceful. I can recommend this apartment to anyone. I should add that the WiFi worked well and it was nice to be able to use the telephone.

“Love the apartment and location.”

Reviewed 22 Dec 2011

We loved Nick's apartment in the old town so much, we've booked again for next July. It's in a great street which has every kind of shop you might need and a cafe straight across the road with good coffee. There's a fish market every morning in the little square, 20 yards down the street, a butchers and a cheese shop, and cake shops and well, everything, including a supermarket at the end of the street. The apartment is very well equipped and furnished and perfectly placed for exploring Nice. The bus station is very close, making the transfer to and from the airport very easy. Thank's Nick

Thanks so much! It was great to meet you. See you in July! Nick x
