Location description from owner

The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region

The Cote d'Azur enjoys a pleasant all year round climate with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year. The bright sunlight, vivid colours, blue sky and sea that attracted artists such as Picasso and Matisse are as remarkable as ever. Nice is the capital of the Riviera and the fifth largest city in France. It really is a city with something for everyone. Its mixture of influences (Greek, Roman, English, Russian and American) has perhaps led to its modern day cosmopolitan feel but, although there is a strong Italian influence, particularly in the food and architecture, Nice is still unmistakably French. In addition to enjoying the many delights Nice has to offer there are great transport links to take you to many other places as well. The extensive rail network has frequent services to all the main coastal resorts including Mandelieu-La Napoule, Grasse, Cannes, Juan les Pins, Antibes, Villefranche sur Mer, Monaco, Menton and Ventimille in Italy. Other main line services mean that cities including Marseilles, Dijon and Milan are also within reachThe Port is within walking distance where a number of trips can be booked including the ferry to Corsica. Nice is as popular now as it has ever been and one visit, however long, is never enough!

Nice

Carre d'Or (Golden Square) is one of the most prestigious districts of Nice, distinguished by many fine examples of Belle Epoque architecture. This location is ideally situated and provides easy access to the town centre and the Old Town. The pedestrianised Rue de France is also nearby with its many shops, bars and restaurants. Local activities include cycling, diving, fishing, roller blading, sailing, swimming, tennis, walking, water skiing, museums, Old Town, art galleries, markets, cafes, restaurants.

“Excellent”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

A lovely, spacious apartment in an excellent location. Moments away from the seafront, close enough to walk to the station for daytrips along the coast, not far from the airport (we got to the flat and back by bus), and a pleasant stroll away from Nice's old town. Shops, cafes, a market and a supermarket are all within a five minute walk. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped, with everything you’re likely to need for a self-catering holiday. Jane, who manages the apartment, was very helpful and friendly, without being overbearing. The centrepiece of a great holiday, and we’d certainly stay there if we’re ever in Nice again. Recommended.

“A perfect location from which to explore Nice ...”

Reviewed 12 May 2013

We spent a lovely week in Nice staying in this apartment which is in an excellent location. Jane, the manager of the apartment, is extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Jane also has the balance just right between being on hand to help and giving you the privacy you want on a holiday. The apartment itself is very well presented, clean, and has all the facilities you would need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. It is surprisingly quiet - once inside you don't feel that you are on on edge of a bustling city. We slept for hours! We explored the area easily by foot (Nice Old Town, the Chateau) & by train (Antibes, Monaco & Cannes) and we found travel by public transport hassle free. This was our second stay in this lovely apartment - it won't be our last!

“A very well presented apartment in a good location”

We have just spent a lovely week in Nice staying in this apartment which is in an excellent location. On arrival we received a very warm welcome from Jane who also supplied us with useful information about Nice and its surrounding areas. The apartment itself is very well presented, clean, and has all the facilities you would need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We would hope to stay here again on our next trip to Nice.

“Beautiful apartment”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2012

My husband and I stayed for 9 nights in this lovely apartment in Villa La Belle Epoque and we couldn't have asked for a better location. The apartment has everything you would need for a very comfortable and relaxing stay in fabulous Nice. My husband went jogging along the Promenade des Anglais every morning as it was only about 5 mins away. It is an ideal location for the train station, old town, Promenade Des Anglais, restaurants and shops etc. Thanks to Jane who managers the apartment, for making our stay enjoyable and comfortable and for all her knowledge on Nice and places to visit etc. we will definitely stay here again.

“Excellent apartment near the beach”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2011

We were very impressed with this little basement apartment in the Villa La Belle Epoque which is a beautiful old house just a short walk from the beach and shops. The booking went very smoothly, very pleasant people, and the apartment is excellent for a couple. Although it sleeps up to four, it would have to be family (or very good friends!) staying, as the only toilet and shower room is en suite to the main bedroom. Good quality furnishings and equipment and everything you could need for an excellent holiday. The free WiFi was very good, for those wishing to use a laptop, and there were plenty of books and DVDs if you couldn't think of anything else to do ( which is almost impossible in Nice....... ) My husband went down to the sea every morning for a swim and it was excellent to be in a position to do that. Would thoroughly recommend it and we plan to return.
