There are many apartments to choose from in Old Town -- this is one of the best. The main reasons? Fabulous location and newly-renovated condition!

Old Town Nice, while compact, comprises many micro-neighbourhoods, not all of which offer the same degree of quiet, safety, convenience and amenities. Moreover, many of the buildings in Old Town are -- well -- old; ideally you should be able to experience the charm of the city without sacrificing modern appointments.

Our apartment, conveniently located on quiet Rue Barillerie, offers the best of both!

Around the corner in one direction lies the famous Cours Saleya -- the vast open market square lined with beautiful red and yellow Provençal buildings, open-air restaurants and featuring an ever-changing range of produce and flower stands, artisans and musicians. Just beyond this square, to the South, stretch the famous Promenade Anglais and the turquoise-blue Mediterranean.

Around the corner In the other direction from the apartment can be found the best and most intriguing streets of Old Town, with bakeries, wine shops, gourmet food stores, antiquarians, and many additional restaurants (some comprising only a few tables under a canopy!). Access to the centre of Nice-Ville, with its world-class shops and museums and ultra-modern tram line, is only minutes from the apartment door. For visitors with rental cars, parking on streets or in municipal garages is close by.

And when it's time for a respite from exploring, shopping, swimming or dining, there's nothing better than coming back to a clean, quiet, restful apartment, with enough room to move around, and the amenities that make apartment-living an attractive alternative to staying in expensive hotels. Completely renovated and updated with new furnishings, kitchen and bathroom. Situated on the 3rd floor of a charming 17th century building (easy walk up), it is light, bright, modern, airy and above all -- comfortable!

"My daugher and I loved your place, and we had a very hot week in Nice. We were going to spend most of the time in art museums, but ended up on the beach in the beautiful water quite often!!! I am already planning another trip to Nice with my sister who is visiting from the States (I live in Berlin, Germany) and my other daughter.

On our last morning we layed on the beach again, got a fresh Baguette and finished our leftovers, packed a lunch for our flight back to Berlin and packed our suitcases as fast as we could. On our way to the bus we bought more cute stuff that we didn`t really need… packing in as much vacation fun as we could in the last few hours. We enjoyed reading the comments in the guest book, and actually followed the advise as to where to eat.

“Fabulous Apartment in the Heart of Nice”

This is our second visit to this apartment, and we would not hesitate in recommending it! The apartment is always lovely and clean with everything you could possibly need to enjoy either a weekend break or a two week holiday. The apartment is in the heart of old town nice, so is fantastic for shopping, meals out and is so close to the beach, you really couldn't ask for anything more! It is always very easy to book and Reed & Deb are a pleasure to deal with, and the information they provide is fantastic. It is very easy to get to from Nice airport to the apartment, the 98 bus takes you to the Place Massena and it is literally a two minute walk to the apartment, for a 6 euro fare. There is a tram service at the top of old Nice which takes you into the new part of the Town for 1.50 and this is also very close to the train stations so you are within easy access of being able to reach Monaco, Cannes, St Tropez etc. The local restaurants are amazing and Le Safari in the Cours Saleya is very good value and serves some really wonderful food. In all honesty we now wouldn't stay anywhere else in Nice, the apartment has everything you could need and the location makes it the best, and again I cannot praise Reed, Deb or Dorine (the lady who meets you) highly enough. Thank you and hopefully we will be back next year!

What a wonderful experience! From the initial renting procedure, receiving the keys and staying in the apartment. Our 4th apartment rental in Nice and we have found our home from home. My other half and myself stayed for 6 nights at No 22 Rue Barillerie, Nice this May. We found Reed and Deb (the owners who are based in the US) very helpful & reassuring when we were making our booking, they even emailed us a useful map of the area. The apartment is suberbly located on a picturesque street in the lovely Old Town area (the best area of Nice, take time to explore the windy ancient streets and narrow lanes), right around the cornor from the Cours Saleya market and all the wonderful restaurants & shops surronding it. The Promenade d'Anges is just a few steps away too. On our arrival, Reed's local agent was waiting in the apartment for us, and kindly showed us around and we found them to be very helpful for any queries we had during our stay. We were delighted with the apartment itself, which was much nicer even than the photos online. Besides being warm and welcoming & nicely decorated, with lovely long french windows overlooking the narrow street below; it was sparkling clean and had all the stated facilities and mod cons, everything you could need, inc wifi! There were extra toileteries & a hairdryer in the bathroom which was nice too.The washing machine was great, and there's a clothes line outside the window which dries you things in an hour or so, and an iron and ironing board. There was a basket ful of magazines like 'Vanity Fair' that I happily discovered one morning and a shelf of useful and informative books to enjoy on the comfy sofa. It was nice to be able to buy lovely socca bread and wine and fruit in the market and eat it & do some cooking back in the apartment. But for the perfect and best meal in Nice book yourself a table in Bistro du Antoine around the cornor on Rue de Perfecture (opp the pub), and have the duck - it was one of the best meals we have had in ages (and we are real foodies) and it was relatively inexpensive for such quality. Safari Restaurant in the market area is also a good choice. Nice is a great old town and on our next trip we will definitely stay at No. 22, we were lucky to find it. Thanks Reed & Deb!
