“Relaxing stay in a wonderful cottage”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2018

Spent a week at the cottage over New Year . Jenny met us at the cottage on our arrival with a homemade cake and plenty of teabags awaiting us. The cottage had everything we needed and was so warm and cosy. The weather was icy and pretty cold so it was a delight to come back to. Maisy our dog loved it in the area so many walks on the doorstep. We were in close proximity to towns and beaches. We explored the area finding so much to do. Will definitely like to return.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your favourable review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed Drey Cottage and we hope that you will return to our lovely part of the Galloway Forest Park soon. Maybe next time you will reach the summits of Cairnsmore and the Merrick. Best wishes, Jennie & Vince

We had a wonderful time in a lovely comfortable cottage in an area of outstanding beauty, the proprietors went to great lengths to make sure everything was perfect for us. We would certainly recommend this cottage to all of our friends and we will visit again. Thank you for the fresh baked bread.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your review of Drey Cottage. Pleased that you enjoyed being here in the peace and quiet of the hamlet. No busy roads only the country lane and so quiet at night for a good nights sleep! Hope to see you both in the not too distant future.

What a wonderful location to stay in. It is ideal from visiting the local area in all directions. The welcoming fruit cake from Jennie was delicious, as was the fresh bread half way through our stay. The cottage had everything you could want and the enclosed patio was lovely to sit in with the dogs. Watching the squirrel each morning and all the lovely birds was amazing. Thank you Jennie and Vince for helping us have a brilliant holiday. It is on our list of places to revisit in the future. Manda, Alan and the dogs Harry and Charlie x

“One of our favourite holiday cottages in Scotland”

Cottage is well equiped and the owners very welcoming and friendly. A perfect location for walking and visiting places like Kirkudbright, Dumfries and Newton Stewart. Enclosed patio very useful for the dogs, and red squirrel watching, not to mention all the birds who visit the feeders. The bird and squirrel food is supplied by the owners. This was our second visit and we hope to go again.

“Beautiful cottage lovely and clean and well presented in a lovely location”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2013

Drey Cottage was lovely and welcoming from the moment you stepped inside with the table set with lovely china and a home made cake waiting for us after our journey which was a lovely homely touch. Jennie made us so welcome and had even emailed to say that we could get into the cottage earlier than shown on the website. We took our son and our airedale terrier with us and it was the ideal place for all. You could walk into the forest and the forest park was around the corner with a playground and a place to hire bikes. There are a lot of great places around this part of Scotland within a short distance by car. The cottage was so clean and was very well equipped. It was so nice to sit in the conservatory and watch all the birds and the visiting red squirrel. A great place to stay.
