StoneyGill A is a 1 bedroom apartment on the upper floor; it has no stair access because the property is on a slight slope.
There is off road parking for 1 car and superb views all around.
It makes a great base for a walking holiday and a large proportion of visitors regularly return.
StoneyGill 'A' comprises :
A large bedroom with a superking bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The bathroom has a bath with shower over, w.c
The living space contains a Kitchenette / Diner and seating area with access to a balcony with seat and marvellous views across the Newlands Valley to Skiddaw, Helvellyn and Catbells
The kitchen area has a fridge, toaster, electric hob, microwave / oven / grill, a washing machine with drier.
There is a Gas fire, freesat tv and dvd player.
Central Heating, towels included in the rental.

“Breathtaking view from a relaxing retreat.”
A great week starting with a warm welcome from the proprietor, David. The apartment was a delight - the living room balcony commanding spectacular views which ensured we were never bored whatever the weather. It was a cool week but the fire was very efficient at warming the living area, central heating was available if needed which is unusual in our experience of ropey storage heaters in Lakeland properties. The bed was marvellous; a super king with a memory foam mattress, a great nights sleep was assured. There were pleasant walks from the property including a walk across the valley to Hawse end to catch the launch into Keswick. The only drawback to the location was the main road one has to take to reach the property, a stretch of it is single track with passing places. Some motorists did not take care as they hurtled around the blind bends so it's not for nervous drivers. Currently the bridge at Stair is out of commission which is an inconvenience but not unsummountable. It is a property we would like to return to in the future!
Very peacefull apartment in a perfect location. Some of the trails start right at its doorstep. Superb views (you can see Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn drinking your morning coffee in the living room). We loved everything about it and definitely will be back :)

“Amazing and refreshing”
The place was amazing .l would go back tomorrow. Very relaxed and view from our cottage was refreshing . The owner David was very pleasant. We felt like we have known him for a while .
“stunning views, stylish accomodation”
From booking this place to arriving the experience was stress free, David provided us with easy to follow directions. As we pulled into StoneyGill we were met with the hooting of an owl which was fabulous. The cottage was cosy warm and there was even a little christmas tree in lounge area. David supplied milk, tea and cake, the accommodation had an abundance of good quality utensils that are required for self catering. The bed is a monstrous super king size and the quilt is extremely warm. The views from the balcony are sensational and ever changing with the weather, you would never get sick of looking out over the hills and mountains. We were lucky enough to sit one night at dusk and it was magical. We walked one day into keswick a 7.6 mile walk which was great. If you enjoy fell walking Catbells is a must and the view of Derwentwater from the summit is brilliant. Causey Pike was a bbit more of a challenge but definitely worth it once at the top there is an easy route back down or you can venture further over the mountain. We could not fault this cottage or the friendliness of David who introduced himself to us. The location is one of the best we have stayed in. We could not recommend Stonegill enough, in fact we did just that to some hikers on top of Catbells.
“Romantic Rural Retreat”
We've been staying at the apartment in Stoney Gill for over 15 years. Since David took it over around 10 years ago, he's updated it to make it feel more contemporary, whilst keeping a clean, cosy, easy atmosphere. Newlands is a beautiful valley, and the best place in the world for battery-recharging. Stoney Gill is well-placed for walks, straight out the door and onto the fells. Or a short drive to Keswick or Cockermouth for eating out, shopping and cinema. David always makes us feel very welcome and comfortable. Peace and quiet, postcard views - and a complementary jar of David's own honey - what more could we want? The only problem is that there seems to something wrong with the time there - it goes too fast!!!
“Super place in beautiful location”
A very straightforward booking policy , the owner being extremely helpful and obliging. The property is comfortable,warm and well equipped, a plus being a small balcony overlooking the beautiful Newlands Valley and peaks beyond. The location is quiet ,about three miles from Keswick itself. There is a pub about a fifteen minute walk away but the charm of the place is its quietness , proximity to the mountains and beautiful walks .
“We love Stoney Gill so much we come back every year”
The flat is always exceptionally clean and welcoming. The view from the balcony is stunning and even if it does rain you can still enjoy the site of the mountains and valley from your window. There are some of the best walks in the lakes you can do (e.g. Catbells, Newlands Horseshoe, Derwent water) without getting in your car. We have stayed in many different cottages/apartments over the years and you wont get better value for money than this one - well worth a visit.

The place was neat & tidy, and comfortable. Very peaceful and many opportunities for walking straight from accommodation. Views are breathtaking. Will come back.
