Location description from owner

The England region

The Lake District National Park is renowned as one of the most beautiful places .... Keswick is a small market town in the North Lakes and has all facilities and attractions you'd expect; It has a wonderful theatre and lovely parks, a fine museum, a leisure pool as well as a market and supermarkets.

Newlands Valley

The Newlands Valley links the village of Braithwaite with Buttermere. There are very fine walks straight onto the fells from the property so no need to take the car all the time .. big walks, high walks, low walks , valley river walks, walks to tea shops, walks to lakes.

Whinlatter is nearby and as well as a Go-Ape has an extensive cycling path network catering for all levels.
within a couple of miles are a marina (offering canoe, boat hire) and Newlands Adventure Centre for Ghyll Scrambling, Climbing etc.

The views from StoneyAcre are spectacular and take in Skiddaw, Blencathra, Helvellyn, Catbells, and Causey Pike.

“Spacious, well presented apartment”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2016

Stoneyacre is very well looked after both inside and out. Lounge and kitchen particularly spacious with everything you will need for your stay there. Area is beautiful and very quiet, the only problem is the narrow road from Braithwaite but well worth the journey. My only suggestion for an improvement would be the addition of hand rails, either side of the slate steps leading to the front door , which could cause a problem for older people carrying cases. Plenty of parking outside the property. Overall a very enjoyable holiday.

“Excellent accommodation in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely spacious apartment. The owner David was extremely helpful, providing all that we needed and offering useful visitor information. The views of the surrounding area were outstanding: a treat every morning! We look forward to coming back to this special place.

“Spectacular scenery and luxury accommodation. Could not have been more pleased with our choice.”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2015

We regularly stay in rental properties and we have quite a long checklist of requirements because we have to satisfy my 83 year old mother who needs to be happy in order that we can enjoy our holiday. She was delighted!!!!!!!! Such a lovely home, huge rooms, lots and lots of space. We live in a lovely part of the world so regular great scenery does not always register but the views from the terrace were so beautiful. The owner said he hugged himself every morning when he woke up and looked out of the window. I dont blame him. We were visiting for the Convention and decided to stay out of Keswick this year and were so glad we did. It was an easy drive in and out and gave us the opportunity to take a break during the middle of the day. The Convention can be all consuming. We had the best week ever and will be letting everybody know of our 'find'.

“An excellent place for a family holidy”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2015

This was our second stay in Stoneyacre, but the first time we had been with small children. The whole family enjoyed the experience and our host could not have been more helpful in looking after us, including providing travel cots and high chairs, of which we needed 2! The apartment is extremely clean, tastefully decorated and the kitchen very well equipped. We were very well located for the amenities of Keswick and numerous outdoor activities, and you can't beat the views, including from the private balcony. I would be happy to recommend this as a family holiday destination and very much hope to return.

“A great week.”

We had a great time in Newlands Valley with impressive sunny, dry weather. The house was excellent. The views from it are astounding. All in all, a great week.

“For lovers of the Lake District it doesn't come any better”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2015

We have been returning annually to StoneyAcre since 2008 having discovered it purely by chance. It is spacious, comfortable, warm and well equipped. Having breakfast on a sunny morning, looking out across to Cat Bells is truly memorable. Stepping out onto the veranda and look towards Skiddaw, the Lake District colours can just take your breath away. The Newland Valley is certainly one of the quieter Lake District valleys. For walkers, many of the North-Western fells can be walked directly from the StoneyAcre doorstep. Access to the rest, along with the Central Fells, the Northern Fells and the northern Western Fells is but a short car ride away. Keswick is just over 4 miles away by road, Buttermere just over 5 miles and Ambleside 20 miles. Even the Langdale Valley is less than 30 miles away and can be reached in under an hour.

“Fantastic House, Very Nice Owner, Incredible Surroundings”

Reviewed 10 Dec 2014

I recently stayed in StoneyAcre for a long weekend, The house was superb, really warm and cosy. When we arrived the Owner made us very welcome and showed us around. The surrounding area is stunning. With great walks right behind the house you don't need to travel anywhere. The local village is lovely and Keswick is a 5 minute drive away. We will definitely be going back here. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

“Superb accommodation, excellent location and perfect host”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2014

This accommodation was a great find - a really lovely location with spectacular views and all home comforts. Very well appointed property - our family thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. The host, David was very accommodating and even provided tea & cake on our arrival- most welcome after a long drive. We really cannot fault this property and are very happy to recommend it- we will certainly be coming back! Thank you David.

“Great location - super view”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2014

Our third stat in this great family accommodation - suited all ages from grandparents to children. Excellent location - easy access to Buttermere, Western Fells, Keswick and Borrowdale. Super views of Cat Bells from main living areas. Comfy furnishings with lots of space. Recent refurbishment has improved accommodation. Owner very friendly, helpful and approachable. Good value for money compared to other cottages we have visited in the Lake District.
