It is a stunning location offering rural tranquility yet so very close to the wonderful Pembrokeshire coast with its fabulous bays, cliffs, harbours and beaches. Immediately outside the Granary's front door is a seat and picnic table that overlook our smaller water wheel and the beautiful and extensive Roch Mill gardens. These are enhanced by the lower mill-race that meanders through them. Beyond the lawn the gardens are bounded by Roch Bridge, the Brandybrook river and several large ponds. Ample parking is provided and a car advisable. The gardens extend to 6 acres, bounded by the river on one side and a 700 year old mill race on the other.

Location description from owner

The Wales region

Those of you who are new to Pembrokeshire will discover that it is one of Britain's best kept secrets. With all the charm and beauty of Cornwall Pembrokeshire enjoys the benefit of fewer visitors and very little commercialisation. Additionally, it offers the attraction of a local Welsh culture with its own living Celtic language - often heard in the area. Situated right in the centre of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park The Granary at Roch Mill is close to Newgale beach and Solva on the edge of St Davids peninsular. If walking, outdoor pursuits and wildlife are your thing; then look no further. This area is simply outstanding for its natural beauty and varied wildlife, especially seabirds. And, thanks to its National Park status, the coastline, hills and river valleys are quite unspoiled by commercial activity. The coastal path alone offers over 180 miles of beautiful scenery and the offshore islands team with seabirds.

Newgale

Famous for its surf, Newgale beach is very popular with holiday makers of all kinds. With over 2 miles of sandy beach shouldered by splendid cliffs, caves and rock pools it offers an ideal destination for people of all ages. Inland from Newgale the Brandybrook valley guides a delightful riverside footpath that starts at Roch Mill and meanders gently through woods and meadows providing a tranquil, shady contrast to sun, sand and sea.Nearby there are opportunities for cycling, horse riding, tennis, golf, rock climbing, coasteering, boat trips, sailing and canoeing. And, of course, there are lots of nice pubs, cafes and restaurants to relax in. Our own pub in Roch, The Victoria Inn, is friendly and welcoming and provides excellent beer and grub. The curry n pint on a Friday night is not to be missed!

“An idyllic retreat”

Reviewed 30 Mar 2013

We had a wonderful stay at the Granary. Our boys loved sleeping in the crog loft ( up a steep paddle ladder so not suitable for very small kids but the perfect adventure for our two - aged 6 & 8 ). The Granary was very comfortable and clean with everything you could expect. It is located in a very peaceful valley. We particularly liked watching the water wheel go round and just enjoying the garden. It was very relaxing! But we also visited the local beaches and ventured out to Solva and St. David's - both well worth a visit. You do need a car to explore. But back at base Pat and Dave were very welcoming and made us feel at home and they were happy to recommend some good places to eat nearby.
