Haldane Apartment is a modern apartment set in a period terraced town house. It is situated in the heart of Jesmond, just on the outskirts of Newcastle city centre. It's located close to a wide range of boutiques, shops and restaurants that you'll find on the popular Acorn Road. If you'd like to explore the city of Newcastle during you stay, you can either enjoy a 15 minute stroll into the centre or hop on the Metro. The centre of Newcastle has much to offer visitors from world class culture, fine dining, great shopping and for those who enjoy the night life, there's lots of great bars and clubs in Newcastle.

The Tyne and Wear region

North East England really is a gem of an area that simply must be discovered! It offers wide variety, from exhilarating coastline with its blue flag beaches and acres of beautiful and tranquil countryside, to cultural contemporary cities and rich heritage sites.

Highlights are the incredible Hadrian's Wall, a 73 mile World Heritage Site, the Angel of the North, one of most viewed pieces of public art in the world, Durham Cathedral, a magnificent World Heritage Site, and The Sage Gateshead, a simply stunning building playing host to music from around the world.

Also home to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Beamish Open Air Museum, akin to taking a journey in a time machine, Holy Island, Alnwick Garden, and Bamburgh Castle. There really is something for everyone here, and lots of choice for shopaholics, including the hugely popular Metro Centre and Eldon Square shopping malls. There is also an abundance of bars and restaurants, many serving delicious local produce.

Explore mile upon mile of gloriously uncrowded golden sandy beaches and stunning countryside set amongst two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the rugged Northumberland National Park. Discover more castles than anywhere else in England, the birthplace of English Christianity on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the historic World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall, stunning Alnwick Garden picturesque towns and villages and much more.

The Local Area:

The Apartment is a few metres from Heaton Park which is lovely for stroll or cycle with wide range of trees and shrubs as well as an ornamental grass area and seasonal flower beds. The park has a bowling green with a terraced pavilion where they sell refreshments during the summer months and a large informal playing field suitable for Frisbee and ball games and a natural, circular running 'track' for keep fit enthusiasts.

The popular cultural area of The Ouseburn, home to artists, musicians, great pubs with live music, long established as well as newer creative businesses, visitor and educational attractions is also close by at just over half a mile away.

'The Biscuit Factory' is a cool, contemporary art gallery with several floors of beautiful art and craft exhibits plus an amazing David Kennedy restaurant called 'Food Social' as well as the 'Factory Kitchen' café/coffee shop with stunning views over the Ouseburn valley. This is less than half a mile from Warwick Apartment and well worth a visit during your stay.

The famous Quayside at the River Tyne with all its fabulous night life is only one mile from the apartment and here you will find a wide range of bars and restaurants as well as night clubs and many other places to dance the night away.

By day, you can enjoy a stroll along the river bank, walking across the Millenium 'blinking' Bridge (even more stunning when illuminated after dark) and on to the Baltic Flour Mill art gallery and restaurant. You must visit the landmark building which is The Sage, Gateshead which is home to the Northern Sinfonia Orchestra .

You can take a boat trip up the river Tyne to where the river meets the sea at Tynemouth and you can see what's on at the beautiful Grade 1 listed Theatre Royal on Grey Street:

St. James' Park football ground~ is about two miles from the apartment.

If shopping is your thing, then you won't have far to go to gets some retail therapy. Eldon Square in the heart of the city and one and a half miles from the apartment. This an impressive indoor shopping mall is open from till 9am to 8pm every day (closes 7pm on Saturday) and opens on Sunday from11am till 5pm. Here you will find all the shops you need including Fenwick's of Bond Street and of course a large John Lewis department store.

You also have The Metro Centre, Europe's largest shopping and leisure centre in nearby Gateshead which is easily reached by the no. 100 bus from outside the back of Fenwick's department Sore in Newcastle.

Public Transport:

The No. 1 bus from the bus stop near the apartment which run approximately every 7 minutes to the city centre (direction Slatyford) NB the last bus into town is 10.51pm. The bus takes 8 minutes to John Dobson street (near the city hall music venue and close to Northumberland Street (shopping arae0 or 11 mins to Pilgrim Street (a the bottom end of Northumberland Street near the Monument Metro Station.


Local taxi company 'LA Taxis' will charge you approximately £5 to take you to the city centre.(Pilgrim Street).
