For the shopaholic you have Gateshead MetroCentre which has over 330 stores and is stocked full of key designer and cost conscious brands.

Or why not enjoy a day at the races at Newcastle Racecourse for the "Northumerland Plate" (late June) or Beeswax Ladies Day (late July) or an evening at the Theatre Royal or for a more adventurous evening – be entertained by The Lady Boys of Bangkok ( for tickets and other more regular entertainment)

"Comfortable, clean and well equipped - but maybe take ear plugs..."

We had a two night stay over Easter weekend. Very central with great pubs, off license and take aways right over the road - so did get a bit noisy overnight, but on the other hand it was a bank holiday and it also makes it a really convenient location so can't complain really. Owner easy to reach and friendly - although ask if parking will be available as advertises a bay, but we had to park in Grainger Market multi storey - not far away and just £5 for the day (over the weekend at least), so again, not a big problem. Sofa bed comfortable enough if you've been out for drinks maybe, but wouldn't fancy more than two nights on it. Linens and towels provided, flat has small but well equipped kitchen and was comfy and clean. Open plan mezzanine style bedroom over lounge and sofabed so you need to be pretty friendly with the people you're staying with. Would certainly stay again, good value and so much more freedom than staying in a hotel. Residential though so you do have to be aware of not disturbing the neighbours. Great place to stay with friends for a more relaxed night on the town and good base if you're exploring the North East.

Great apartment which was perfect for what we were looking for! Arrived on the Friday and Lynne was very helpful and understanding towards any issues we had and she showed me round the place. The apartment's location is very central and this - along with the facilities it offers - makes it a very good place to stay. Would definitely recommend this to a friend.

"Fantastic time had by all!!!"

From start to finish Lynne (the owner) was great very fast response to any questions I had! also once we had arrived she was only a phone call away if we needed anythig! The location of the flat is a 2 min walk from the train station, 5 mins walk to the Gate and Eldon square for shopping and bars. There are pubs on your door step! The flat is really nice! Had everything you would need for a break away, nice bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer microwave full cooker washing machine, iron and ironing board and clothes dryer. Lounge area very spacious with a leather sofa bed and also a sofa chair. There was a dining table with 4 chairs a TV with DVD built in and the added bonus of wi-fi this is a great touch for anyone getting away and wanting to keep up to date with friends online! The bedroom was up the stairs and was beautiful a nice double bed 2 bedside tables and a nice fitted mirror wardrobe. All in all we had a great time and we will deffo be back in the very near future thanks again!

"Handy as so central"

Was literally a block away from Pubs/Clubs and Metro train station. Steep stairs in the flat but comfortable enough and decent price for a night. Was giving a toothbrush and towels and linens.
