Very Good

“Beautiful cottage, just missing a few touches”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2018

Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. Hosts were very accommodating when we were trying to change dates and communication was very good. The reason I gave the cottage a 4 rating is the fact it was soo cold when we arrived. It took a few hours to warm the house up. I appreciate it was mid February but it would have been a lovely touch if the heating had have been on for our arrival. The second reason, very small, (it can be the small things that make a difference.) The soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty. The towels were flimsy and seemed really budget which is not in the style of the rest of the cottage. As I say they are small things but it just cheapened the experience and it felt a bit miserly. As I said, the cottage is beautiful and location is fab.

What a privilege to do spend Christmas in a 200 year old cottage in tollymore forest , an unforgettable experience.

“Cozy cottage in beautiful Tollymore Park”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2017

My wife, two dogs and I had a fantastic stay in Tollymore Gate Lodge. The park is directly accessible from the property and the house itself is great. The property is clean and cozy and ideal for families or couples looking for a relaxing break. We'll definitely be returning.

Great little house, with a great view, to enjoy with your morning coffee and a cosy fire to curl up in front of after a long days climbing or hiking. Full but basic kitchen, WiFi, spacious bedrooms and enough board games to get you through even the worst of rainy days! Tullymore and the Mourne Mountains on your doorstep. Newcastle a short drive away, though it is walkable and Dundrum with the excellent Mourne Seafood restaurant a ten minute drive away. Next to no mobile reception but like me you might consider that a plus.

“Come the revolution we'll all live like this.”

My wife and I stayed at the tollymore gate lodge for two nights, sadly it wasn't long enough the gate lodge is situated inside tollymore forest park with the mourne mountains right outside your front door, the gate lodge is a beautiful property that is deceptively bigger inside with two very spacious double bedrooms a well equipped kitchen with everything you will need for a comfortable stay such as cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, well you get the idear you really do have everything you need and for the quiet evenings there is a large selection of board games and sat tv with a very good reception,if it's a quiet and relaxing break away from the stresses of everyday life then you won't find better than the tollymore gate lodge, book now and experience what life should be like for all of us, I can't recommend the gate lodge highly enough we certainly will be going back.

“Tollymore Gate Lodge”

A very well turned out cottage. The heating system worked very efficiently for the evenings which was much appreciated. It was nice to know a friendly voice was available for help if needed but equally as nice that we weren't bothered. The situation couldn't be improved on right in Tollymore had some great walks with the dogs. The instruction PDF was a great help and well thought out and the welcome pack was exactly that a really nice touch. The fuel left was just right. The wifi worked well. Overall we had a great experience everything was as advertised and easy to use would have no hesitation recommending this cottage.

Owner's reply: Thanks for being so specific in your review - it helps other people know what to expect. We really appreciate you staying with us and would love to have you back again :-)

The Gate Lodge will make for a beutiful stay! The house itself is over 200 years old, but has been beautifully restored and made very comfortable! After a long walk in tollymore, coming back to sit in front of the log burning stove is just perfect. Hosts we're very helpful and quick to reply. Gauranteed you'll enjoy your stay!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much. And glad you enjoyed it. Come back and see us again.

“Our stay at gate lodge at Tollymore”

Clean cottage and close to the Tollymore forest park. Had a great time. Lit the stove at night and bought the coal from the owner that was provided. It was cosy cottage once stove was lit.
