“Woodside Cottage”

Reviewed 21 Mar 2015

The accommodation was faultless, spacious bedrooms, excellent kitchen and dining area with modern appliances, lounge area with up to date entertainment bathroom and en-suite facilities spotless. Fabulous cottage steeped in history with modern day luxuries. Set in a tranquil area yet close enough to the hustle of Bowness & Windermere if you need a break from it all I recommend you try this cottage.

Many thanks for your review. We are pleased you found Woodside to be "faultless", what high praise and I will pass your kind comments on to our wonderful caretaker who keeps it immaculately clean and in tip top presentation. Many thanks Alison

This was a lovely cosy cottage to stay in with the family and was really well equipped. The cottage was clean and was located in an ideal location for walks and trips. Everything we needed was available in the cottage and was suitable for all ages. Thank you for making our 'relaxing' holiday easier with our stay in your home......everything was perfect. We have already recommended it to our friends!

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased you found Woodside to be well equipped, clean and in such an excellent location.

“Fantastic cottage, can't fault and is genuinely dog friendly”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2013

I cannot fault this cottage. The interior is beautiful and has every mod con including dishwasher and broadband, and log burner. It is rare to find people who will allow 3 dogs, and in such a top quality property. You can also park 2 cars, and has a lovely garden. We will be back.

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and found Woodside so welcoming for dogs and their owners.

“We would return tomorrow if we could”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2013

My family and I spent the most fantastic time staying at this wonderful property. On arrival there was a lovely welcome tray waiting for us - much needed after the long car journey. Other family members arrived by train and found the house very easy to get to by taxi from Windermere Station. The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and contains everything you need for a relaxing stay. The location is perfect. We walked somewhere different every day and other trips included taking the boat across the lake to Bowness and the old steam train to Haverthwaite. We had a magical day in Near Sawrey, visiting the Beatrix Potter house and walking through Sawrey Village which you can get to from Near Sawrey by following a beautiful walk across fields. There is a gorgeous cafe in Sawrey (follow the signs for the village store) where the lovely owner supplies hotwater bottles and blankets if you decide to sit outside but feel a little nippy (it is the lake district after all)! Returning home each evening to our wonderful house made our stay so enjoyable. There were 6 of us in total, plus a dog and there was plenty of room for everyone. Thank you for a really memorable stay in the lakes. Would love to return again in the summer.

Many thanks. So glad you enjoyed the welcome tray. We hope you can return to Woodside soon

“Perfection”

Woodside is in a perfect location for the Lakes - Windermere, Coniston, Grasmere and more. The owners clearly take pride in keeping the cottage in immaculate condition and with excellent facilities including Wifi, a good TV and DVD player, a dog guard to stop the dogs straying upstairs and a phone. The garden was ideal for us with two dogs - enclosed and you could sit listening to a babbling brook. We were supplied by the owners with really useful notes on the area - shopping, walks, things to see and visit and how to get the best from the cottage. We wanted for nothing and enjoyed the area and then settling down in the cosy lounge exhausted. So many nice things in the area and we are seasoned Lakes visitors! The lakeside terrace of the Lakeside Hotel with a glass of wine (and a beer!)... open to non-residents until 5pm. Ducks, lapping of the lake, occasional boats and sheer relaxation. Early morning walks with the dogs at Fell Foot (just round on the other side of the lake) - great for walking dogs, next to the lake and the River Leven. If you want a bit of life then Bowness has lots of cafes, restaurants, shops and boats for hire. We are vegan and enjoyed bruschetta at the Lakeside Hotel, a fabulous choice at the Lancrigg hotel near Grasmere, caters only for veggies but a bit pricey, Tapas and Thai curry in Bowness. 10/10 to the Owners who telephoned on the first evening to check we were happy - we were! Thank you.

Many thanks. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Woodside. We have worked very hard to provide a comfortable base for a Lake District holiday

“Beautiful cottage in outstanding area!”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2012

We stayed here with our 2 daughters, aged 10 and 7, our labrador and my parents. The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped. it is stunningly presented and immaculate. Everything is catered for and its location is ideal for exploring the Lake District. A must is the walk to High Dam, which is a short walk from the cottage front door, a steep but not difficult walk to a lovely lake. Also a walk round tarn Hows is another reccomendation. This cottage far exceeded our expectations and we hope to return in the future.

Many thanks for your review. So glad that you enjoyed the cottage. We have tried very hard to cater for all our visitor's needs and it is nice to read such positive comments. Woodside is indeed in a wonderful location.

“Excellent holiday cottage in prime location”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2012

We had a great weeks holiday in this well equipped, well furnished cttage. The kitchen is very user friendly, bedrooms comfortable and lovely bathroom facilites. The cottage is in a prime location which we felt catered for any needs, right from the doorstep. Lakeside is a short walk down the lane to catch the boats on Windermere to lots more attractions. We had one large dog with us and enjoyed the walk to High Dam as have many other visitors. Having met the owners Alison and Barry it is apparent how much care and effort they put into providing a lovely home from home in a beautiful location. We were short of nothing and highly recommend this holiday rental.

Many thanks for your lovely review. We are so pleased you found the kitchen so well equipped and user friendly. Our location is excellent being so near Lake Windermere and High Dam and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Woodside

“Absolutely wonderful!”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2012

We have just returned after spending a wonderful week in this cottage with our daughters and their partners, plus one dog. From the moment I opened the door into the kitchen I knew it would not disappoint. Everything was as stated on the advert. The cottage had everything you could possibly need in a home. It was cosy, immaculately clean and the bedrooms were beautiful. The location was good with walks from your doorstep. New visitors must walk up to High Dam - its a bit of a climb but well worth it when you get there. I can't think of anything negative to say about the cottage, it was far beyond my expectations and highly recommended.

Thank you, so glad you and your family enjoyed Woodside and its marvellous location

“Absolutely brilliant cottage!”
