This beautiful apartment not only offers comfort but is in the perfect location for your stay in Edinburgh. It is 10 - 15 min walk from the city centre and another 10 mins will take you to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. There is also excellent public transport for those not so keen on walking.

The New Town also has many, many superb bars and restaurants, galleries, museums and specialist shops. Just walking around looking at the beautiful architecture is a joy and no surprise that the Edinburgh New Town is a World Heritage Site.

The spacious lounge has a large comfortable leather sofa and 2 leather chairs with large screened tv and dvd player. Throughout the flat are beautiful original fireplaces and corniced ceilings all lit up by the light streaming through the large Georgian windows. The kitchen/dining is extremely well appointed with a utility room which, although there is no clothes dryer, has a large pulley where clothes will dry overnight.

There is a large double bedroom and a twin bedded room which has an en suite shower room. There is a family bathroom with bath/shower and toilet and there is also a small separate toilet very typical of these old apartments. It is perfect for a family, 2 couples, etc.

On street parking. This is free at weekends and there is always plenty space. However, on weekdays it costs around £1.20 per hour from 8.30am - 5.30pm - then it is free again. The problem is that on weekdays, cars must be moved after 4 hours so, unless it is a weekend stay - I recommend not taking a car.

One of the joys of Edinburgh is that the centre is surprisingly small and so you can walk or bus everywhere so a car is unnecessary - in fact undesirable. Walking is the best way to see the city anyway as you can find wonderful streets, bars, shops etc when you wander - I love it! However, there is an excellently bus service 200 m from the flat and taxis are excellent - if you don't feel like walking.

The Edinburgh region

This is one of the most beautiful locations in Edinburgh. The Georgian New Town has been named a World Heritage Site due to its beautiful architecture and Cumberland Street is right in the heart of it.

The apartment is surrounded by Museums (Portrait Gallery in Queen Street and the National Gallery on Princes Street to name but 2). Dundas Street is full of Art Galleries, Antique Shops, bars, restaurants and shops - all leading up to George Street and Princes Street which offer everything a shopper could desire. Stockbridge is 5 min walk and also offers all of the above and a street market at the weekends.

New Town

As well as the above, a 15 - 20 min walk will take you to the Playhouse Theatre which always has a live show on offer and next to that is the Omni Centre which shows the latest films. The world famous Botanic Gardens are nearby and well worth a visit.

There is many, many Festivals in Edinburgh - the largest by far being the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe which takes place in August - see online for details.

"Perfect"

Our initial impression of the apartment at Cumberland street was "wow!". A beautiful spacious apartment tastefully furnished, very comfortable with everything we needed for our weekend stay. Great location too, just a short stroll from the shops and main sights of Edinburgh along old cobbled streets. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in Edinburgh.
