“Delightful, Refreshing and Welcoming”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2016

A great welcome to the Hayloft. The space is extremely well designed, loads of room for three adults and a child to relax, read cook, watch TV and not get on top of each other. Great to have two bathrooms as well! Alicia and Nathan were excellent hosts, and we arrived to the most delicious brownies and shortbread I have ever tasted! We ordered some of the delicious food on offer and it was delicious and home grown! Some lovely walks nearby, we walked to the nearest beach at Cwymtydu which was lovely, and also did the coastal path from Cwymtydu to LLangranog - which is well worth it ... The farm is lovely, the veg box a delight and we used it all up ! There is no wifi in the cottage itself ...but its good to have a digi detox!

“Lovely Location - repeat visit”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2015

This was our second stay in the Hayloft and once more we had a lovely stay. The facilities are good - with a lovely large living room and fire upstairs and reasonable sized kitchen downstairs. The cottage is on a working organic farm, its easy to purchase the veg from a little farm stand, and chickens wander about the gardens during the day (much to the babies delight!). We particularly like the location - its rural, very quiet, and surrounded by woodland. Its a short drive into Newquay, but the local beach is much quieter and there are Seal cubs at this time of year making it a wonderful place to relax and get away from it all. Alicia is lovely and makes you feel very at home - and provided baked goodies on arrival! We've previously enjoyed the property as a couple, but returned with a new baby and found it perfect for a little one - not only could they provide a cot and highchair, but there were lovely wooden toys to play with. The Hayloft has a lovely enclosed garden with blackberries growing (enabling us to make a sneaky crumble!) A damage deposit is requested when booking the property which I found unusual and not something I have ever been asked for before, despite staying in a lot of self catering properties in the UK. However, the first time we stayed we were able to pay via paypal (which I felt added a little security) and it has been returned in full on both occasions after just a couple of days. All in all a lovely property and as we are regular visitors to the area no doubt we will stay there again

“Idyllic West Wales getaway, great location and perfect hosts.”

We all had a wonderful time staying at the Hayloft, it was a beautiful place and the location was idyllic. We got to experience a true taste of country life, my son even got to help steer the tractor, something I think he'll never forget. Alicia and Nathan are so warm and welcoming, I'd highly recommend this stay and have done many times since we've got back.

The Hayloft is a lovely place to stay, the lounge is stunning. We enjoyed the log burner and felt Relaxed there.Alicia and Nathan are very welcoming, brownies and shortbread on arrival.Nathan took time to introduce us to his highland cattle, and we were able to see the produce they grow on the farm walks to the beach and stunning coastal paths.Hope to return soon.

“The best holiday”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2014

We booked a week's holiday at Troed y Rhiw Farm in July. We stayed in the two bedroom property, which was just fantastic. The bedrooms and kitchen are downstairs with a living room upstairs. The kitchen also opens up into the garden. The cottage is perfect; beautifully renovated and spotlessly clean (it even has a piano!) We were blessed with the weather in July and we were able to go to the beach every day. Although the sea was a little bit chilly (wetsuits needed if you are from the South of England, like us!), the beaches were just lovely. As well as the lovely weather and property, what made the holiday for us was staying on such a fantastic organic farm with Nathan and Alicia. They were so welcoming without being intrusive and our daughter loved playing with their children. The fruit and vegetables from the farm were delicious, so we were happy to cook using these wonderful ingredients. Bean, the friendly dog and chickens roaming in the garden added to the atmosphere. The chocolate brownies on arrival were also a lovely treat. There is no doubt that we will go back here. We cannot recommend it enough. Our six year old daughter said this was the best holiday ever!

“Inspiring”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2014

We knew that our stay would be good as soon as we were greeted by a friendly welcome from Bean the dog, Alicia's homemade shortbread and brownies and a delicious box of veg freshly picked from the farm, which we topped up through the week with tomatoes and other tasty produce from the farm stand. Staying on an organic farm was a great experience, Nathan gave us an interesting and informative tour, describing the diverse and unusual crops that they grow. Our girls (age 4 and 6) made friends with the children at the farm and loved being able to roam around, and especially enjoyed meeting the Highland cows and feeding the chickens. The Hayloft had been beautifully restored with a stylish, modern and comfortable feel. Locally, there were fantastic beaches with rock pools, waves, excellent swimming and tasty ice creams, and we even saw dolphins close up. The area has an interesting, unspoilt feel, with many shops selling local produce and good to be able to escape supermarkets and the usual high street stores. Shame to be home, though we've got another veg box from the farm to keep us happy!

“Such a fabulous, unspoilt place I almost don't want anyone else to discover it.”

Excellent, spacious accommodation; spotlessly clean and well equipped. Very friendly welcome from the owners (including wonderful chocolate Brownies). Surrounding countryside delightful. The best cottage I've ever stayed in.

“Lovely light and spacious cottage in beautiful countryside”

Reviewed 23 May 2014

We stayed with our seven-month-old baby for five nights and had beautiful hot sunny weather. The Hayloft is a perfect size for a small family, light, spacious and calm but also would be cosy enough for a winter holiday, with wood-burning stove ready laid with logs and kindling. The kitchen is well-equipped and the homemade brownies to welcome us were delicious. We also ordered an organic veg box from the farm, and really tasty home-cooked meals to save us the trouble of shopping or cooking on our first couple of days. Alicia and Nathan are very thoughtful and welcoming hosts, and we enjoyed being introduced to the Highland cattle by Nathan, and playing with Bean the friendly farm dog. The Hayloft cottage and its garden feel quiet and private despite being part of the farm yard. The local area is incredibly beautiful with plenty of interesting beaches, towns and villages within easy reach, and a village pub only a two minute stroll away. A great holiday, we wished we could have stayed longer!

“West Wales Idyll”

Reviewed 1 May 2014

We stayed in the Hayloft for three nights over Easter and wish we could have stayed a lot longer! Light, airy and very comfortable, the Hayloft has been beautifully converted and furnished by Alicia and Nathan and had everything we needed for our short stay – including a fantastic collection of books and some delicious chocolate brownies that were quickly snaffled! Our children, aged 5 and 8 loved bouncing on the trampoline and playing with Bean, the very bouncy and friendly farm dog. It's in a lovely location too - quiet and very scenic – we enjoyed our walk down to the beach at Cwym Ty Du and look forward to exploring the area more on our next visit.
