Description

This is a very rural setting. If it's rows of identical cabins, discotheques and amusement arcades you want then look elsewhere! If you want to wake up to the sound of waves and seabirds and watch kestrels hover above cattle grazing in green meadows from your windows then this is the place for you.The Steamboat" pub in Carsethorn is a 5 minute walk along the beach.

The Arbigland Estate is the ideal base for mountain biking (minutes from two of the 7 Stanes) Birdwatching (Mersehead 15 mins away) Golf (Southerness Championship Golf Course 10mins away) or collapsing and revelling in the amazing surroundings. The chalets are also close to the equestrian establishment of South Carse. You can bring your horse with you and keep him in the livery yard there so that you can enjoy riding on the beach and around the bridleways on the estate.

Built with 21st technology unlike many of the older log chalets along the Solway Coast these are really well insulated so snug in winter and not too hot in summer. The log burning stoves make them really cosy in the evenings. The kitchens are really well equipped for a foodie holiday.

“Poor condition and poorly presented”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2016

Turned up for 4pm arrival, keys in door and looked like a bomb had hit it. Someone had forgotten our booking (not good when you've travelled several hours with an infant who's now starving and fed up of being in a car seat) Contacted the owner who arranged for an emergency cleaner to come but would take 30mins or so for her to arrive!!! Cleaner turned up so we had to lose ourselves whilst 'cleaning' was carried out. It's now around 6pm and everyone is fed up. When trying to close the very heavy curtains over the door the curtain pole fell off hitting my partner who was lucky to escape injury (this is a real hazard). Bathroom door jams when opening which is also a hazard. Log burner requires all the seals to be replaced (hanging in front of the glass). Location is great, 100yds to the beach and within easy reach of some great forest walks.
