A three bedroom impeccably crafted hand-built home nestled in Douglas fir, Cedar and Maple trees ,with a commanding view of the Purcell Mountains, Kootenay Lake ,and the ever-changing sky.

We call it "El Nido" (Spanish for "The Nest") as you feel as if you are safely nestled amongst great trees ,with a bird's-eye view of lake, mountain and sky. Your heart will soar and your spirit and thoughts take flight from this Kootenay Lake home.

Totally private - it has embraced meditation and yoga retreats, parties,romantic getaways, weddings and family vacations. You will feel the peaceful and calming energy immediately upon entering...."beautifully stunning'', ''inspiring" "peaceful" and 'WOW!!!" are words often spoken by guests here.

Enter the property from a winding driveway that threads upland and through a forest, walk past statues and Japanese maples to enter the home from the forested side. Feel welcomed as you step inside the bright foyer onto polished clay-coloured concrete heated floors. Be inspired to plan and cook beautiful meals in the well designed modern kitchen with stainless steel work areas, propane stove and oven, and outdoor bar-b-que...all with views onto the garden and across to the lake and mountains.

Relax in the many seating areas or Brazilian hammock on the deck, or in the large soaker tub that is designed and situated to invoke the feeling of floating above the lake whilst bathing. Near the soaker tub is a Spanish tiled steam room to warm up on cool mountain nights, or along the outside wall of the bathroom an outdoor shower to cool off on hot summer days.

The Lake bedroom on the lower floor leads onto a secluded and private deck. The other two bedrooms are on the main floor; the Chidren's bedroom has a single bed and child friendly loft; the Forest bedroom leads onto its own pond side patio and the gardens. The beds all have memory-foam mattresses ,high-count cotton sheets and duvets.

The large outdoor decks have ample room for entertaining and sunbathing while the shaded pond and waterfall create a soothing and relaxing place for meditation and bird-watching..

Summer activities in the Kootenays are as varied as the people that visit and live here....From music festivals..writers' and artists' gatherings, mountain- bike riding, climbing and hiking, kayaking, sailing, world-class fishing,or .soaking in Ainsworth Hot Springs.

In the picturesque city of nearby Nelson the many craft stores, boutiques, and outdoor equipment stores await, along with town's varied dining options. Sample some locally brewed craft beers from the Nelson Brewing Company,and enjoy some delicious freshly roasted coffee at Oso Negro Coffee a favourite with the locals and visitors alike. Or take the beautiful drive North up the lake and visit Kaslo for a charming small town experience...

This Kootenay Lake Sanctuary is an ideal space for a honeymoon, a romantic get-away, or a meditation retreat. It is the place where writers or artists would get in touch with their muse, or an ideal space for a family to come together in an incredible setting.
