THE VILLA

We have owned The Villa for 10 years and spent many wonderful holidays there. The location is very peaceful and relaxing; the silence broken only by occasional goat bells and the sound of Yianni riding past on his donkey.

The house is spacious and comfortable and a lovely place to come back to after a hard day's swimming and sunbathing.

GROUND FLOOR: Modern shower room. Large, well-equipped kitchen/diner with fitted units and appliances, large dining table and open fireplace. Washing machine. Direct access to decking.

UPPER FLOOR: Spacious lounge with large sofas, open fireplace, DVD player and stereo system. Bathroom (bath with shower over). Small double bedroom. Large triple room (double bed & bed settee) with fitted wardrobes. Large triple room (3 single beds), with private balcony and steps leading down to garden. A camp bed is available, if required. Double doors from the lounge lead to the balcony at the front.

HOME COMFORTS: Bedding, towels & beach towels are provided. There is WiFi, a DVD player, stereo system with surround sound and iPod connection, a selection of CD's and DVD's, hairdryers & straighteners and a large selection of books and games.

OUTSIDE: Private, secure parking at the front of the property. Large decked area overlooking the valley, with dining table, chairs & loungers for 'al fresco' dining and sunbathing. A terrace leads to the extensive garden and the lower terrace provides a shady space to sit or relax in a hammock. There are several vines and a selection of fruit trees, including orange, lemon, fig, pear, apricot, plum and pomegranate – please help yourself to whatever is in season!We provide a small selection of snorkels, masks and fins for your use.

ZARAKES

Zarakes (also known as Zarka) lies on the narrowest part of the island of Evia, with access to a great selection of beaches on the Aegean coast and the Gulf of Evia. The local beach is Zarakon Beach (also known as Friniakos Beach), which is less than 5km away. It has two tavernas and a breakwater makes it a safe place for children to swim. There are numerous other beaches within a short drive, including Limniona, Almiriki Koskina and Aghios Dimitrios. Nearby towns and harbour villages such as Nea Styra, Almiropotamos (Panaghia) and Porto Bufalo offer an excellent choice of tavernas, bars and restaurants.

The scenery is stunning with dramatic mountains and coastlines and many sites of archaeological and historical interest.

This Property has an EOT LicenceOwners of holiday homes in Greece are legally required to have an EOT (Elliniko Organismo Tourismo) licence, in order to rent their property for short term lets and the licence number should be displayed on all advertising/website listings. Anyone who doesn't have a licence isn't paying tax and if they get caught, the penalties are high, with fines of up to 50,000 euros. Obtaining a licence is costly and time-consuming so most property owners don't bother. What does it mean to the holidaymaker? A property with no EOT licence has not been checked and may not be safe. The property will probably not be insured. It is unlikely that your holiday insurance company would uphold a claim for personal liability on an illegally rented property.If you pay in advance and the property owner is found out by the authorities before you go, you could lose your cash and your holiday accommodation.
