Bedroom 1 : The Loft is light and airy double room with floor to ceiling windows, sea/volcano views and direct access to the pool terrace. The space has been furnished using a mixture of Indonesian, Spanish and Turkish pieces, resulting in a relaxed, stylish environment. The teak four-poster bed and ensuite bathroom/dressing area complements the living space beautifully.

Bedroom 2 : The Suite is made up of a double bedroom, bathroom and lounge area with an L-shaped sofa and a leather armchair. Both the bedroom and the lounge areas have patio doors opening directly onto the pool terrace.

Bedroom 3 : The Skyview double room as the name implies has an atrium which enables star spotting and moon gazing from the comfort of one´s bed. The ensuite bathroom has a shower which converts to a steam room at the touch of a button.

Overall the villa and compound feels like an oasis of calm. The compound walls are high enough to ensure guests enjoy complete privacy and as the villa itself is built at a higher level this does not compromise the stunning vistas. There is a strong wifi signal available.

A housekeeping service is included in the rental fee.

Location description from owner

The Canary Islands region

Lanzarote is a unique part of the world. I have renamed it the Magic Island as its unlike anywhere else I have ever travelled to ( that´s 80+ countries to date). Temperate climate all year round. Fantastic beaches , lunar landscapes, palm tree filled valleys and beautiful seaside villages with great cuisine and friendly locals. Local wineries, great restaurants, interesting markets, duty free retail therapy and assorted cultural pursuits mean that there is something for everybody.

Nazaret

Oasis de Nazaret is perfectly located in that it is conveniently situated just outside of the old capital of Teguise ( cobbled streets , beautful architecture, interesting shops, tapas bars ) and yet the village itself is extremely tranquil. There are however two excellent restaurants within easy walking distance of the villa. Lagomar ( sometimes known as the Omar Sharif house) is a few minutes walk and Barstro is literally around the corner. 50 metres from the villa the road stops and you are on open land so hill walks with beautiful vistas are right on your doorstep.

“I Wish I Could Say It Was Excellent, but .........”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2016

I've deliberately left it almost a month before writing this review so that I might have time to get my thoughts in proper order and, thereby, provide a considered and balanced review of this undeniably lovely property. Prima facie, Villa Dora Bella ticks all the boxes for any family wanting luxurious holiday accommodation: Attractive location; Totally private; Beautiful gardens; Pool; Hot Tub; Three bedrooms; Three Bathrooms; Wi-Fi; 42" TV. And yet, and yet ......... base as it is to bring money into the equation, this property isn't cheap and, therefore, any review must contain an element of Costs / Benefit analysis: Was Villa Dora Bella worth the money paid? Or, to re-phrase the question, did Villa Dora Bella live up to its premium property price? Having weighed this question up in my mind throughout our stay (and in the weeks following our return home), I have to reluctantly conclude that for us the property didn't match our expectations. It was, for the most part, very good, but for the following reasons it fell short of "Excellent" / "Premium Quality" status. 1) The Kitchen - compared to the rest of the property this was the poor relation (note that the website contains no pictures of the kitchen). On our second night we discovered the oven did not work; unusually, we hadn't checked this on the first night as the Housekeeper had prepared us a wonderful cold meat / salad dish. The owner came with a microwave two days later and a new oven was installed three days after that, but that sort of thing tends to colour one's opinion. We wanted to eat at the villa most nights and the lack of an oven for a the first week of the holiday tested even my wife's culinary ingenuity. 2) "Hands On TLC" - My family have had rental properties in Southern France for over 15 years. I have no involvement in that venture, but through regular visits have come to appreciate that any property requires continual hands-on maintenance and upkeep that cannot be left entirely to paid contractors. This is especially the case if you are asking in excess of a thousand pounds a week rental. Obvious as it may be, the basic truth is that the more you charge, the more you have to do to ensure the property is kept up to scratch. Very reluctantly, I have to suggest that Villa Dora Bella requires more hands-on involvement by the owner if it is going to be marketed as a high-end, premium property. To conclude: We loved the gardens, the location was just what we wanted, it was gloriously private, the Loft bedroom was beautiful, but, but ........ . I suppose the best way to phrase it is: We'd hoped - we'd paid - for a premium quality property; what we got was very nice, but fell short of what it should have been for the price paid. This review is, of course, simply my opinion, but in writing it I have endeavoured to be as fair and objective as possible.

Hi David Thank you for your review. I'm glad you liked the location , gardens and The Loft and am sorry the property didn't meet your expectations. This is one of the very rare non 5 star reviews we get . It was really unfortunate that the cooker gave up in the initial part of your stay. I bought the replacement the following business day after being notified and had it fitted as soon as possible. In Spain things happen a little slower then the uk. The kitchen is now 'totally Bosch' which we are very happy about and in keeping with the overall level of furnishing and fittings. We believe the property is correctly priced and all things considered represents very good value for money. Of course it requires ongoing maintenance and with that in mind we have a painter and maintenance man who visits In between rentals to make sure everything is in good condition. Thanks again for your feedback. Best wishes Alan, Jess & Julie
