Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

The Aveyron is one of France's lesser known gems. Full of history and romance this area has a wealth of places to visit. Known as the land of 100 valleys, this area of plateaux is dissected by small rivers and produces quite spectacular gorges and reveals hidden treasures of villages tucked away ready to be explored. The Aveyronaise are known for their welcoming nature and in the summer they just love to party. Local Fêtes and Markets can be found dotted across the region giving you plenty to choose from whichever day of the week it is. As for the food - Sauccise/Aligot washed down with a local Marsaillac wine is not to be missed - especially at one of the many nocturnal markets.

Naucelle

Quins is a quiet village but has at the centre a community owned bar/restaurant. The food here is excellent and at 12 euros for a 4 course plus wine - has to be tried. There are many local events organised from here including theme food nights and organised walks in the local area. Naucelle is the attached commune and this is a pretty little town with a good weekly market, all the services you need including an Intermarché supermarket. It has an excellent open air lido with 5 swimming pools and an active Boules and Qoites club. Close to Quins is the beautiful Bastide of Sauveterre de Rouergue. Many events are held here with weekly night markets in July and August, the Medieval festival in June, the stunning 'Festival of lights' in early August and the Chestnut fair in Octobre. Cap decouverte in nearby Tarn, Micropolis insect park and the spectacular Millau Viaduct offer just some of the unique experiences to keep the kids happy.

Getting around

There is a train station in Naucelle - 10 mins drive away which links Rodez to Toulouse. It can be really nice to take the train to Toulouse - saves on driving and also on parking which can be tricky and expensive in Toulouse Centre.
