Description from owner

Description

Light, airy, spacious 2 bedroom villa within walking distance of the golden sandy beach, lagoon, nature reserve, daily market, restaurants and cafes. Enjoy stunning panoramic sea views from the villa, its large front terrace or roof terrace, or relax in the shaded courtyard garden.

The front terrace looks over the village to the beach and sea, with the mountains in the distance. Set well for the sun, it has room for outdoor dining, a local style barbecue, and relaxing sun loungers. Indoor outdoor flow works well as wide glass sliding doors open from the indoor dining and living area directly onto the terrace.

The rear courtyard garden also has room for outdoor dining and sun loungers, and has a strategically placed large fig tree so dappled natural shade can be found in the heat of the day.

The roof terrace is unfurnished but has panoramic views that are stunning at any time of the day or year.

The three outdoor areas have different aspects so you can find sun

The three outdoor areas have different aspects so you can find sun or shade, wind or shelter, as you desire.

The two bedrooms have room to move around both sides of all beds and plenty of storage cupboards, drawers and hanging space. Bedside tables, reading lights and centre lights switchable from the bed are examples of little touches that make your stay comfortable.

The house has two shower rooms, one a full wet room with a hanging rail for rinsed out wetsuits and beach clothes.

Although you may not be able to resist trying all the delicious local specialties made by traiteurs in the market, or want to try as many restaurants as you can, if you do want to cook, the kitchen has an extensive and impressive array of tools, and appliances.

There is a parking space that goes with the house, numbered and for your sole use only. Its right outside so there's no need to walk any distance. If you have a special car or just want to keep your car cool, the large garage under the house is ideal.

We chose this spot because of its unique situation. Far enough from the beach and village centre to be quiet and calm, but close enough to walk. Set back up a hill to make the most of stunning views. A village that isn't dominated by high rise but small second homes, owned mainly by French people.

Everything you often have to get in the car and drive to is here, in the village of St Pierre la Mer, and within walking distance.

Walk to the 8km long golden sand beach which is patrolled in summer and has separate areas for swimming, kitesurfing, boats, jetskis.

Walk to the etang (lagoon) on the edge of the village to hire or use your own sports equipment in a safe place.

Walk to a large choice of cafes, restaurants and bars.

Walk to the daily market, which draws people from nearby villages.

The village is set within the AOC wine region of La Clape and many producers have outlets in the village. Fill up your empty water bottle with wine from the barrel on the way home from the beach like the locals do.

If you're intending to take too many toys to the beach to carry, or do a lot of shopping in the market, there is ample free parking on the beach front and adjacent to the market.

St Pierre is surrounded by reserves which are criss-crossed with walking and biking trails, easily accessible from our house. Climbing, horse riding and bird watching are also popular activites in the reserves.

Our villa is ideal for couples or friends looking for a relaxing holiday in a comfortable space where time spent just sitting admiring beautiful views with great value local wine and food freshly prepared for you sounds inviting.

Equally, if action sports, history or culture is your thing, there is plenty of choice within the village, its surrounds, or the wider region.

Families looking for a beach holiday will find enjoy the great range of activities on offer, all close by.

Although we're new to this website, we have been accepting holiday bookings for a few years, and most weeks are booked by guests who have fallen in love with our unique villa and St Pierre village and so regularly return.

Spring and autumn are popular for extended breaks: 4 weeks for the price of 3 at these times. Winter is popular for longer 'escapes'. Guests often stay for 3-6 months over autumn/winter/spring. Please enquire about special rates for longer stays.

Our second home is well equipped and comfortable for year round living. It is kept spotlessly clean by our local agent, who also looks after the linen and inventory. They charge a fee of €90 per stay directly to our guests.

We hope you find our villa to your liking and enjoy your time in St Pierre as much as we do.

Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

St Pierre is a small village of mainly French second home owners. No high rise and limited in size by surrounding reserves, an AOC wine region and the Mediterranean sea, its quiet in winter and has enough space on its wide and long beach in summer for everyone. The environment is beautiful and whether you like history, nature, culture, good food and wine, sport, or just relaxing you'll find something close by to suit.

Narbonne-Plage

Our house is up a small hill just back from the village centre and beach, hence the stunning views over the village to the sea. Its in a quiet residential area but close enough to walk to restaurants, cafes, the market and beach.

Interaction with guest

We have a local agent, the Evans family (English/Welsh/Scots), who own a nearby Chambre d'Hote (Les Volets Bleus). They can help with anything you need. We, Ray and Denise, are the owners, and as we spend a lot of time in St Pierre ourselves, we can suggest activities or outings or help with your travel plans. Just email or phone us. Our best current advice is to take a 1-week holiday based around the Sentier Gourmand en Clape. Its a convivial amble of about 6km through some of the most dramatic vineyards of the AOC Languedoc-La Clape region, which adjoins St Pierre, tasting wine and enjoying gourmet food at each of 6 stops along the way. Sadly we'll miss it this year, on Sunday May 21st 2017. Our loss could be your gain!

“Perfect Spot to Enjoy the Best of France”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2015

We loved this villa, very spacious and light with spectacular views and a great variety of terraces so we could enjoy sun or hide from it in the shade of the fig tree. The villa is very well equipped with everything we needed, and spotlessly clean. The village is nice and small so we could easily walk to the countryside around it, as well as the beach. We liked wandering to the market to pick up supplies each day and its definitely worth trying the dishes that are freshly cooked there. The local wine producers don't mind you trying their wines from the barrel - €1.60 a litre for excellent AOC wine!!! The Rose was our biggest surprise discovery. We'll be back!

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to write about your holiday - we love to hear of guests enjoying St Pierre as much as we do!
