“Cozy cottage ideal for hill walkers”

Reviewed 10 Nov 2016

We were there for 3 nights. The location is great for hill walkers, with two tracks up Snowdon only 15 minutes' drive away and with several other peaks available on the Nantlle Ridge, almost walking from the house. The cottage itself is snug and cozy. It's the sort of place you can go back to after a long day on the hill and just hang up the wet cagoules, take off your boots, then relax with a glasss of wine or bottle of beer in front of the (electric) fire. The TV gives surprisingly good reception given the location in the mountains. There's very efficient wifi available. It's a narrow staircase to get to the bathroom and bedrooms, but that adds to the charm of the place. The bedrooms are comfortable, with storage heaters, electric blankets and good warm duvets (you take your own pillow cases and duvet covers). It was at freezing point outside overnight but we were very comfortable in bed. The bathroom/toilet is large enough and there was plenty of hot water for baths. The shower operates well and the heated towel rail is superb. The kitchen is functional and well equipped, although some of the pans and tools are getting to the point where they'll need replacing before too long. The downsides: parking is over the narrow road outside the house and given that it was dark on an evening, it was a bit of a struggle to park as close to the far wall as possible; on our first evening, there was a pervading smell of dog in the lounge - but that was really due to pet(s) of the previous occupant, and it had gone by the next morning. All in all, it's a good place for hill walkers, not "posh" but comfortable, and at a good price. We're looking forward to going there again before too long.

“Great stay, comfortable cottage in lovely location”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2016

We have just returned from a short break away in this lovely cottage. It was clean, comfortable and warm in a quiet location which was ideal for visiting Snowdonia. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the owner Duncan was very helpful answering any queries promptly. We climbed Snowdon, visited Beddgelert and Caernarfon, it also helped having beautiful weather. The kids loved the Wifi especially as there is no phone signal! We will definitely return although would prefer it if/when the stinky hoover has been replaced!! Thank you

“Picturesque setting but very unclean cottage.”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2016

Excellent area for exploring Snowdonia. Great sized cottage and garden with smart TV and Wi-Fi. Very dusty, cobwebby, dirty curtains and generally unclean. In need of decoration. I would prefer to pay little extra for someone to clean and check everything before I arrived, not accept how another guest has left the property, and then spend time washing and cleaning anything I used. A place should look fresh and clean on arrival.

“Wonderful scenery”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2016

This is an ideal location for walking and the scenery is just amazing. The nearest beach is also a delight to visit and ideal for children. This is our second visit will hopefully be coming again.

“Beautiful”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2016

I've lost count of how many times I've stayed in this cottage and each time I go I feel at home. I took my mum for the first time who also loved the cottage and the beautiful surroundings it is in. The cottage, although basic I has everything you need and the dogs enjoy the many walks in the surrounding area.

“Excellent value for money”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2013

We found this property was absolutely fine for our requirements. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a very good size. The weather was amazing and we had a whole week of sunshine so were able to visit many places. The neighbours were extremely pleasant and very helpful. Overall one of our best holidays.

“A Wonderful Cottage in a Wonderful Area”

Reviewed 21 May 2012

We visited in March 2012 and found the cottage very clean and comfortable and warm, it suited our needs exactly. The beds were very comfortable, with beautiful views from the front bedrooms. The bathroom was very large, with loads of hot water. The lounge/diner was also very comfortable, cosey and warm, the kitchen was quite adequate with everything to hand (liked the fact that it had a nice selection of cleaning materials). The small garden at the back was very pleasant and would imagine it to be a beautiful place to sit in the warmer weather. The area itself is outstanding, beautiful walks and not too far from local villages and towns. The cottage is suited to walkers, cyclists and families that want a quiet value for money break. We are hoping to return later in the year!!

“A dilemma whether to share this gem with anyone else - great holiday let, brilliant value for money, comfortable&cosy,”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2012

Instantly welcoming and comfortable, this cosy cottage provided my family a peaceful Winter holiday in a stunning location. The cottage is well-equipped, the beds are really comfy and there's a Co-Op less than 10 minutes away. The mountains are a stone's throw, the beaches a short drive away so it's really well situated for families or serious walkers. Although I'm telling everyone I know about this place I'm not sure I want to share it! Great value for money. I didn't want to leave. The stairs are steep so tiny tots or people with dodgy knees beware!

“Lovely, Relaxing Holiday.”

Reviewed 24 Nov 2011

We have stayed at Tai Nantlle many times over the years and find the cottage warm, cosy, clean and very peaceful. The surrounding area is very scenic with views of the lake and snowdon beyond. Tai Nantlle is a great base for going off hiking for the day or visiting slate mines, copper mines, castles and many other places of historic intrest. We will be returning once again this year.
