Description

A secluded Highland retreat, Woodland Cottage is in the heart of the Highlands, nestled in between the beautiful Victorian seaside town of Nairn and the capital of the Highlands, Inverness. It is entirely surrounded with woodland that lends itself perfectly to leisurely strolls at your own pace in the Summer or Winter. Relax beside the wood-fired stove with a glass of wine or even a wee dram. Other than the attached (owners) property, the Cottage is not overlooked by any other properties.

Woodland Cottage has recently benefited from a complete renovation and although still in touch with its heritage, the Cottage now has the conveniences you would expect from a modern property.

Woodland Cottage is perfectly suited to families and couples alike. If a relaxing, secluded, highland retreat is what you are in need of, look no further. or bring bikes as there are many woodland trails, or quiet county roads to explore.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

As well as being a wonderful holiday destination the Highlands are home to a quarter of a million people living in communities spread throughout the area. From the vibrant city of Inverness to remote crofting communities and sparsely populated islands.
What these communities do have in common and something that is particularly apparent to visitors is that they are all part of an area which is culturally distinct - influenced by our often violent history, a strong cultural heritage, and the Gaelic language.

The natural world is also different - the varied climate leads to a wide range of habitats and the relatively sparse population makes this the premier area in Britain, if not Europe for wildlife.

Nairn

Nairn is an attractive seaside town of 11,000 people who enjoy a prime location on the Moray Firth coast just 16 miles east of Inverness.

A popular holiday destination since Victorian times, Nairn has a host of features which continue to offer a unique holiday experience.

You can enjoy sandy beaches, riverside walks, the promenade with fantastic views over the Moray Firth, golf on two championship golf courses, Nairn Museum, the Fishertown, restaurants, shopping and the Harbour.

Nairn is also an excellent base for exploring the Highlands of Scotland. Within an hour's drive are Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, Clava Stones, Loch Ness, Castle Urquhart, Culbin Forest and the new viewpoint tower, the Cairngorms National Park, Cairngorm Mountain Railway, the Strathspey Steam Railway, Ballindalloch Castle, Elgin Cathedral and the Whisky Trail.

Nairn is a centre of golfing excellence with two 18 hole championship courses - the Nairn Golf Club and Nairn Dunbar Golf Club which between them have staged the 1999 Walker Cup in 1999, Scottish Ladies' and Girls' Championships, Scottish Men's Championship, British Ladies' Championship, the Amateur Championship, the Vagliano, Jacques Eglise Trophy and the Northern Open. Nairn Golf Club hosted the Curtis Cup in 2012.

Within a 60 mile radius of Nairn, you have 40 golf courses to pick from.

Really gorgeous cottage. Beautifully decorated and extremely tranquil. The owner was accessible and friendly. It's really near lots of touristy places yet secluded enough to feel that you're away from it all. Thoroughly recommend it.

“Brilliant break in a fabulous location.”

We have just enjoyed a lovely break in beautiful surroundings. The cottage is ideally located for those who want some peace and quiet but also want the ability to pop into Inverness with ease. The cottage is lovely; clean bright and pretty, with all mod cons. It was a great base for us and we will definitely be staying again. Our host was brilliant and we cannot recommend this property enough.
