Located on a quiet lane with beautiful views across the valley, our stone cottage was originally home to workers in the local quarry and textile mills. Sensitively restored and decorated in a bright modern style it now provides comfortable accommodation with a contemporary twist whilst still retaining bags of character with thick walls, exposed stone, winder stairs and wooden beams.

There are lovely country walks right from the front door yet the busting little town of Nailsworth with a great range of pubs, restaurants and independent shops is just ten minutes walk away. We think this is by far the best bit of the Cotswolds - less busy than the tourist hotspots and with a more varied landscape. There are high commons with breath taking views, secret valleys with clusters of stone cottage clinging to the hillsides, unspoilt little market towns and villages to explore and great food, much of it locally produced. Cirencester, Tetbury, Stroud, Cheltenham and Gloucester are all within easy reach.

Stonecutters accommodates up to 5 people, is centrally heated and has Wifi. Downstairs there is a well equipped kitchen, a dining area with French windows opening onto the garden and a cosy living room with a gas-fired wood burner. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with views across the valley, a single bedroom and a bathroom with shower and bath. A second double bedroom is located on the top floor which is flooded with light. Outside there is a pretty garden and a garden room equipped with traditional pub games. There is a dedicated car parking space at the front of the cottage and parking on the lane. Colourful fabrics, simple furniture and a tasteful paint scheme lend the house a bright modern feel and well chosen pictures and the odd retro find complement the style. .

The Cotswolds region

The Cotswolds is a beautiful region of England, gentle countryside, stone walls and cottages, unspoilt market market towns and villages, cosy pubs with log fires, great food and a walkers paradise.

Our cottage is located in the South Cotswolds in an area known as the Five Valleys. Perched ion the edge of the Cotswold scarp there are high open commons with breath-taking views across the Severn to Wales, rugged little valleys with clusters of stone cottage clinging to the hillsides, magnificent stone mill buildings in the valley bottoms and characterful little market towns and villages to explore.

You can walk for miles with a dense network of footpaths and The Cotswold Way to explore, and opportunities galore for outdoor spots on the doorstep with cycling, golf, riding and gliding to hand. nearby places to visit include Slimbridge Wildfow and Wetlands Reserve, Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucester Docks and the Warwickshire and Gloucestershire Steam Railway. Cirencester, Gloucester and Cheltenham are all within easy reach.

Local food is a delight - visit the award winning Stroud Farmers' market or the many excellent pubs and restaurants to sample, local fare such as Old Spot bacon, Woefuldane Cheese, Winstone's ice cream, Uley Bitter and artisan bread from the Fabulous Baker Brothers.
