The Brittany region
Côtes-d'Armor lies on the Northern coast of Brittany, it has a a beautiful rugged coastline with steep cliffs and is dotted with quaint, medieval towns. The countryside is picturesque and the climate makes it ideal for walks, bike rides or lazy days in the summer.
Dinan which sits on the river Rance is well worth a visit if you like ancient castles, and fans of Breton music should head for St. Brieuc in September for the music festival. The Côtes d’Armor is the largest European producer of scallops so it's well worth sampling the fresh shellfish.
The Cotes - D'Armor is easily accessible from the UK by either ferry or by plane, and many budget airlines offer good value fares.
St-Guen is a traditional pretty quiet French village in the heart of Brittany. It is loacted a short distance from the N164 which is the main road linking Brest and Rennes. St Guen has all the local amenities required for a self catering holiday such as local shops, a bar, a restaurant, church and good links to other local villages and towns. Mur De Bretange is a half hour walk down a pleasant disused railway line or a short five minuet drive. Mur hosts a super market, restaurants bars and plenty of shops.
The Town of Pontivy is located approximately 20 mins drive away with major shopping areas, Hypermakets, restaurants and historical attractions. The town hosts a local market on a Saturday morning which offers fresh local produce.
The Lac de Guerledan is a 10 minuets drive which is perfect for water sports, swimming, walking, cycling, or just relaxing in the sun. It has a beach and is popular with locals and tourists in summer. There are restaurants and cafes and plenty of free parking.
The Abbey De Bon Repos hosts the festival Son et Lumiere (a historical re-enactment of the storming of the bastille) in August and is a must at all times of the year for the sights it boasts.
