Location description from owner
The Kotor Municipality region
You may think we’re biased but we believe that Montenegro is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. However, we are not the only ones. Back in the 19th century, Lord Byron wrote “At the birth of our planet, the most beautiful encounter between the land and the sea must have happened at the coast of Montenegro.” It still retains its unmatchable natural charm and beauty and the Bay of Kotor is indubitably the jewel in its crown.Architecture dating back to the 12th Century is still prevalent among the many heritage towns and villages. Montenegro’s natural beauty is dramatic; mountains dropping down to mirrored water in the UNESCO-protected Kotor fjord and the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic lapping the sandy beaches of the coast. Drive into the mountains to find river canyons (one being the second deepest the world), glacial lakes, untouched nature and a growing ski and eco-tourism industry. At the head of southern Europe's deepest fjord, Kotor's setting is a place of stunning and dramatic natural beauty. The fortified Stari Grad (Old Town) nestles at the foot of a high cliff and is one of the most exquisitely preserved medieval cities in Europe. Its labyrinthine streets are awash with colour and atmosphere, with countless bars, churches and restaurants on hidden piazzas. Mountains protect the whole bay and the sea is indigo blue.Montenegro is increasingly being rediscovered as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', and Kotor spectacularly lives up to its Unesco World Heritage designation enticing its visitor back again and again. Seven islands decorate the bay, and enjoying the gorgeous views over a glass of wine is an absolute delight, whether in one of the many piazzas of the old town, or in one of the beautiful restaurants that surround the bay. There are many small beaches within a 15 min drive on the Adriatic coast, and. activities galore for the more energetic; white water rafting, canoeing, paragliding, mountain climbing, biking, sailing and trips in a Flying Inflatable boat are all available in the area.Practical Information:The Climate is similar to Southern Italy and Southern Spain, so can be enjoyed all year round. On the coast, the climate is simply idyllic.. It can rise to over 90F degrees in high summer but always feels fresh and pure, and of course it’s delightfully cooler inland. Whilst the "season" is considered to be May to Sept the cooler months of spring and autumn can have blissful weather. The currency is the Euro and Montenegro is widely expected to join the EU in the next few years
Kotor is a historic city of traders and sailors, and its medieval architecture and cultural monuments have made it a Unesco listed "World Natural and Historical Site". Its narrow cobbled streets twist and turn, and constantly provide a hidden treasure to be discovered. Getting lost in this ancient maze is fantastic fun. Kids love it, sensing that they are somewhere truly special. The Old Town is traffic free, and can be both peaceful and lively; enchanting and bustling by day with its array of cafes, restaurants and shops; romantic candlelight dinners by evening, and lively at night with many bars and great music. Regular carnivals and fiestas add to the charm of this beautiful, walled town.Muo, on our doorstep, is a beautiful fishing village that runs along the fjord on a small narrow road looking out onto the water. There are a number of shops, bars and restaurants in the village with a lot of friendly faces around every corner. Well worth the drive if you want to venture beyond Kotor is the magnificent Adriatic coastline starting from the Lustica Peninsula to Budva and beyond to Sveti Stefan, the choice resort for the rich and famous. Unmissable in our view are Perast, the unspoilt Venetian town overlooking the picturesque monastery of Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rock), set on its own island; Cetinje, the historic capital of Monenegro; while Budva, the racier, vibrant resort right on the beach, is also a short hop away. There are so many glorious villages and towns to visit, all within less than an hour’s drive. If you prefer to stay local, you could stroll along the waterfront and admire the yachts, take a boat trip or enjoy the many watersports on offer. Or, just find yourself a quiet jetty and soak up the sun! There are now three good guide books on the region – Lonely Planet Montenegro Travel Guide; The Rough Guide to Montenegro; Montenego - tthe Bradt Travel Guide; and Montenegro in Your Hands.

“Splendid view to Boka Kotorska in a comfortable and well maintained apartment”
We were lucky to spend our January vacations at David's apartment. We appreciated a lot easiness of correspondence with him and excellent organization of everything provided by his Montenegrin partners, who help manage the estate. The view to Boka Kotorska is breathtaking. Sitting at a terrace you have tough time leaving the house so great the view is. The apartment is clean, has all necessary amenities, and is well suited for a family with kids. Montenegro is a great country nature-wise, albeit we would not say that restaurants are particularly good. We liked a lot travelling to Porto Montenegro in Tivat, which is some 10-15 minute drive. January - and we were happy it was not raining, except for couple of days - is a good time to see Budva, Sveti Stefan, Perast, as there are not that many people. We also liked one-day trip to Dubrovnik, a pure architectural gem. We would recommend without any reservations staying at David's place, if it is not booked, as it happened during high seasno this same 2013.
Many thanks indeed for your warm and generous review, Evgeny. Carol and I are so pleased you enjoyed everything. We hope to welcome your family again on future occasions - and to have some stunning new restaurant recommendations for you! Dr. Carol and David Rosenberg.
“Spectacular views of Kotor Bay”
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Kotor and the Kotor Vista Appartments suited us down to the ground. Well equipped clean and spacious, great location for exploring the old town which took about 15 mins on foot. Would love to return again soon.
Many thanks, greatly obliged and delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Dr. Carol and David Rosenberg
“Very Good [with reservations]”
Views fantastic, decor, furnishings also very modern and impresive. We were concerned about the maintenance however and don't believe that the complaints book is inspected. Kettle leaks[dangerous] Bath plug leaks [unable to use bath / jaccuzi] Also the bath itself leaked kitchen equipment / crockery / glassware lacking - no sharp veg/ chopping knife, no egg cups, glass tumblers too small and none match !, no mugs The air con outside unit leaked [fixed] patio furniture unsuitable for 4 - table only accomadates 2 when eating Would have been nice to have had a ipod/ connector and maybe some stock DVD's ? Just saying this as we know from previous rentals that this is now being offered. Our flights were cocked up through Tivat and we ended up flying to and from Dubvovnic.
Naturally, we appreciate Jean’s kind words about our apartment and its décor and furnishings, but we’re genuinely baffled by her “reservations.” Jean actually stayed in our lovely apartment well over a year ago, and this is the very first we have heard from her about even the slightest maintenance problem. We had another “house full” season this year and not one of our many repeat guests raised any of the above, so we are simply perplexed. We can only confirm that there are no leaks of any kind and certainly no shortages in kitchen equipment, in fact our guests praise us for having an excess of almost everything and the generosity of our welcome!! The patio table is the standard size for four people. We have always provided loads of DVDs for our guests to enjoy so I’m afraid this is a mystery too. To assist our guests, an info sheet is posted on the wall which advises them to call our highly professional agents for any cleaning or general household problems inside the apartment. The Kotor Vista caretakers are also there to help for any outside maintenance problems. No owners could take better care of their guests. We are of course not responsible for flight problems, though nearly all our guests choose to fly into Dubrovnik. We do hope to welcome Jean on a future occasion and prove worthy of the regular five star ratings from our clients worldwide. David and Carol
“Great apartment with the best view in Montenegro!”
Well, this is our third time staying at the apartment which probably says it all! The apartment is well equipped and spacious, it really is a home from home. The location is perfect, Kotor is an easy 10 minute walk or a cheap taxi ride, but it is just as nice to be opposite the old town to watch the boats as they come in and out of the fjord. We flew into Tivat this year which was great as it is just a 15 minute journey to the apartment. Montenegro remains an undiscovered gem, we just hope that it stays like that!!! See you next year, many thanks for a perfect location for our two weeks in the sun!
Warmest thanks for your generous words. It is very gratifying to have one's efforts praised by repeat clients, and it spurs us to work hard to maintain the highest standards.
We had a wonderful time at Kotor Vista. The view was breathtaking and the setting was very relaxing. The apartment is well-equipped, modern, and conveniently located near Kotor Old Town. A huge bonus was the pool with a view.
We really appreciate such positive feedback. Thnak you for taking the trouble, and we shall strive to listen and improve, year on year.
