Very Good

“Norfolk Coast Getaway”

We stayed here for two nights, and we had a lovely time. Unfortunately the snow and high winds put a stop to us getting out for walks. But we still enjoyed what lilypad gave us which was a warm and cosy cottage.

“Lovely little hide away”

Beautiful little cottage surrounded by fields, bt only a mile-ish to the seaside. Great sandy beaches. Village has enough to keep you going for a few days. North Walsham is a market town close by. Cottage has everything you need, very comfy bed makes a big difference. Secure gardens, help too. Will definitely be back.

“Gorgeous little hideaway”

Just back from a week at the Lilypad and it was fantastic! Jane and Steve were around if we needed them but left us to our own devices. I had told Jane we were bringing bikes and she very helpfully left some cycling routes for us which we fully utilised. Also had some fresh eggs from their chickens and sampled some of Steve's home brew! The Lilypad is tiny but very well equipped and spotlessly clean, perfect for 2 people. The gardens were a real bonus, especially as we had such good weather, we ate breakfast in the front garden every day. The area is beautiful and Mundesley is a lovely little village with a superb beach. We ate at the Ship one night, the food is good but service a little slow. We also had a Thai takeaway from New Sage which is probably one of the best we've had and fish and chips from the Village Chippy, excellent! Be warned though, both are very popular with locals and visitors so you will queue but well worth the wait! There is a very good butcher/deli in the village as well as a nice fruit and veg shop. We cycled to Cromer from the house along the 'quiet lanes route', very picturesque and, well, quiet! Cromer is really nice and worth spending a day there. Try Cromer crab sandwiches at the Crab Pot cafe in town, superb! We also cycled from Aylsham to Wroxham alongside the Bure Valley steam train, lovely ride through the countryside but uneven gravel surface and a bit overgrown. Wroxham is nice but very touristy and seems to be owned by someone called Roy! We did Norwich one day, going in on the train from North Walsham, lovely city, especially around the Cathedral and Tombland. Drove to Sheringham one day, another lovely seaside town. For nature lovers the RSPB reserve at Strumpshaw is excellent, we went from there to Brundall Bay Marina where we met friends for coffee at East Hills bistros, perfect for boat and people watching! One of our best days was at Happisburgh lighthouse, suggested by Steve who volunteers there, so glad we did that. Another fantastic beach at Happisburgh and a very popular village cafe! All in all, had a fantastic week at the Lilypad, well worth the 7 hour drive from South Wales, would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

“Lovely, quiet location.”

Beautifully presented and clean throughout. Lovely touches such as fresh milk in fridge to make a cuppa. Delightful setting and outlook. Ideal for our dogs too. Love Mundesley and surrounding area.

“Stay at Lily Pad Cottage”

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Very quiet location, and the cottage has well maintained small front and rear gardens that are dog friendly. Easy access by car to Mundesley and local woods ideal for dog walking. Really enjoyed our stay.

“Cosy comfortable retreat”

We had a lovely stay at this quiet location, it had everything we needed and ideal for exploring the coast. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we hope to come again

“Lovely little cottage”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2017

Had a really nice stay at the lily pad. Jane and Steve were great hosts. Introduced themselves when I arrived but then left me to it. Cottage was clean, had all the things you would need such as kitchen utensils etc, towels provided, wifi, sky TV, central heating, 2 little gardens which are fully enclosed so great for dogs. Reasonable price and only a short drive away from so many lovely places to visit. I only stayed 2 nights. I went to wells during the day and it was a really quaint little place and about an hours drive from the cottage. About 2 minute drive to Mundesley beach which was lovely. I would definitely stay here again and will be recommending it to there too.

“Great stay!!”

We had two lovely days at lily Pad cottage and will definitely be booking another visit. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed, our dog Toby was well catered for too with gardens and great walks down the lanes. Steve and Jane were very welcoming and there if needed. The fresh eggs and cider were lovely thank you. Would recommend this cottage.

“Lovely, relaxing stay”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2016

We booked Lilypad for a long weekend, just the two of us and our two dogs ! The cottage is compact but has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay, extremely well equipped and very clean. The added touch of tea, milk and biscuits ready for you on arrival was appreciated. Although the cottage is attached to the main house, you have complete privacy and don't see or hear the owners unless you need them, both are very friendly and have a lot of suggestions for local walks. We went to Mundesley beach which is in walking distance from the cottage and loved walking for miles on the sand, the Ship Inn is a definite must for something to eat. Visited Cromer which was nice, but preferred Mundesley. Also walked into Trunch and tried the local pub for Sunday lunch which was nice. The cottage is situated in a very central for lots of areas to visit. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lilypad and will be back again soon.
