(We are on a road with no pavement - so if you do want to walk into Mundesley, the first few 100yds will be walking on the road which can be quite busy at times). 15 minutes walk down a designated 'quiet lane' is the village of Trunch, with shop/post office and The Crown, a pub having 3 to 4 guest beers and bar snacks. Norwich is just 30 minutes away by car, and 20 minutes away is Stalham Broad. Alternatively you could drive up the coast to our many picturesque towns and villages, such as Sheringham, Wells, Blakeney, Stiffkey, Cley, Holkham and many many more Dog Friendly Places - the locality has many beaches that can be explored, most having attractive cliffs and plenty of wildlife. Inland, there are so many good dog walks, with convenient pubs dotted around. The dog walker is certainly spoilt for choice!! Our prices are based on paying a deposit of 25% and the balance 8 weeks prior to your holiday.
Location description from owner
The East Anglia region
A short drive away there are many places to visit, including Blickling Hall and park, eight miles away, where you can explore the home of Ann Boleyn, and walk around the picturesque lake, before taking refreshments in the Buckinghamshire Arms, a wonderful pub/restaurant, serving excellent food and ale.
About twenty miles away, the (up)market town of Holt, offers excellent shopping facilities and hostelries. Further afield, you can visit Holkham Hall, a massive Palladian structure, with grounds and lakes, which is adjacent to the road that takes you to Holkham Beach, very famous for its massive beach, with the sea in the distance, and the inland boundary of pines, where the Queen Mother had her lodge/summerhouse (still there) used during visits to Sandringham (incidentally about 1.5 hours away).
Or, closer to home, you can visit Felbrigg Hall, again with its own lake and beautiful walks, only 5 miles away; or visit Cromer or Sheringham, with its war museum and beach-side town, about 8 and 12 miles away respectively.
In the other direction, a 20-minute drive will take you to Stalham, the start of the Norfolk Broads. For those of you who have boating experience, it may be possible to hire a day boat here. This part of the Broads is the most beautiful, with the river Ant tracking through heavily treed avenues, on the way to Barton Broad, a very large lake, eventually taking you on to Horning and Ludham. Turn to port (left) before the Broad, and you will enter Stalham, or Sutton, where the Sutton Staithe pub/restaurant offers real ales and food. Beautiful to sit in the paved front garden, overlooking the river, on a sunny day!
If you insist, you can visit Great Yarmouth, about 40 minutes away, where you can "enjoy" our local Blackpool!!
Or, you can take a day-trip into Norwich (bus service on our doorstep, or take the train from North Walsham, five miles away). There you will find a daily market in the centre, which is excellent, and visit museums, the castle, two large malls, the shopping centre, and the local inns.
Or, you can just chill out, relaxing in your own, private, fenced garden!!
Mundesley is located some 22 miles north of Norwich, on the north Norfolk coast. It is a traditional family holiday destination, with first class clean beaches with beach huts, and many facilities such as a local museum, crazy themed golf course, three restaurants/pubs, post office, butcher, chemist, greengrocer, bakery, a very good charity shop supporting the local lifeboat, four cafes, a fish and chip shop/burger take-away (excellent), florist, traditional hardware store and hairdressers.
Inland there are many very good dog-walking areas, such as Pigney Woods, a nature reserve (dogs on lead in bird breeding season), Bacton Woods, Weavers Way (along the disused railway line, passing through glorious countryside and lakes), cliff-top walks, overlooking the sea, or just walking the local backroads; for example a mile from our gate to Trunch, which boasts a very good pub with 4 guest ales and a choice of bar snacks (I recommend the sirloin steak!).
For the anglers, there is good beach fishing off Mundesley, Trimingham, Happisburgh and numerous other local beaches. Good catches of whiting, cod, bass and flat fish are to be had here.
Or, for the freshwater fanatics, there are a number of local fisheries, which, for a reasonable day ticket, can provide you with the potential to catch a specimen carp, tench or bream. Two fisheries are within a mile of the cottage.
Less than a mile away, is 9-hole Mundesley golf course, which welcomes guests.
Royal Cromer, 8 miles away, and Sheringham, 12 miles away, also offer guest facilities. Many other courses lie within 30 miles of the cottage.

“Lovely, relaxing stay”
We booked Lilypad for a long weekend, just the two of us and our two dogs ! The cottage is compact but has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay, extremely well equipped and very clean. The added touch of tea, milk and biscuits ready for you on arrival was appreciated. Although the cottage is attached to the main house, you have complete privacy and don't see or hear the owners unless you need them, both are very friendly and have a lot of suggestions for local walks. We went to Mundesley beach which is in walking distance from the cottage and loved walking for miles on the sand, the Ship Inn is a definite must for something to eat. Visited Cromer which was nice, but preferred Mundesley. Also walked into Trunch and tried the local pub for Sunday lunch which was nice. The cottage is situated in a very central for lots of areas to visit. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lilypad and will be back again soon.
