Southern Wales region

Just a short drive from Swansea, the Gower Peninsula is more than just a pretty face. It was designated as the UK's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty back in 1956, and we're glad to say it hasn't changed much since!

Visit the Gower Peninsula for a rich and varied environment which is breath-taking (and we're not just saying that!) – From wild moors and limestone cliffs to golden, sandy beaches. Gower is a geological goldmine with inspiring landscapes – just look at Dylan Thomas's work.

Stay on dry land in Gower and you will be missing out! It gets some of the most awesome waves in Britain, and sandy Llangennith has been popular amongst surfers for decades. True adrenaline junkies can try a spot of coasteering – climb the cliffs and leap into the waves below, not for the faint hearted! Make sure you're always accompanied by a professional – there are a number of activity providers who would be delighted to hear from you.

It's no surprise that walking in Gower is so popular, it's home to some of the most beautiful sections of the Wales Coast Path (even though we are biased). Grab your boots and be prepared for a spectacular waterfront walk. It's not all about sea and sand either – you'll encounter lush woodlands and stunning countryside views along the way.

Sample some of the local delicacies, such as Penclawdd Cockles from the Loughor estuary, succulent Salt Marsh Lamb and the famous Laverbread (its seaweed!).

Welcome to cosy, cosmopolitan Mumbles. One of Dylan Thomas's many stomping grounds and home to some world class ice cream too.

Mumbles marks the beginning of the Gower Peninsula's coastline. It's a well-loved area of Swansea, and when you go there, it's clear to see why!

There are plenty of things to do in Mumbles. They say you learn something new every day, so why not learn a few things when you visit? Surround yourself in the history and tradition that this area is steeped with. There's a Lighthouse built in 1874, and a Victorian Pier. Oystermouth Castle is also well worth a visit, sitting on a hilltop with fabulous views overlooking the sea.

If you feel the urge for a bit of retail therapy, Mumbles will suit perfectly. There's a range of high end shops, independent boutiques and quirky galleries, you can really spoil yourself when you visit Mumbles! Designer labels, handmade crafts or even surfing gear, you'll find it all here.

Mumbles is an ideal spot for those seeking a bit of pampering and relaxation too. Escape and unwind at one of the award winning salons and spas, or treat that special someone!

Feeling hungry? No visit to Mumbles would be complete without sampling some of the area's local, “fresh off the boat”, seafood or some of the best home grown food around – tasty stuff! Pop in for exquisite handmade chocolates (you deserve it!) or sample some of the town's world-class ice-cream, which flavour will you choose?

There are a variety of ways to get to Mumbles – travel by car, by bus, by bike (along the prom) or hop on the Mumbles Land Train (which runs during the summer months).

"Amazinbg Mumbles"

This was the first time our family have rented a holiday home so we didn't really know what to expect, the house is perfectly located for visiting Mumbles and the Gower peninsula it was clean, tidy and homely. There wasn't much outdoor space but that didn't matter as the surrounding area has all the outdoor space you need. The owner was very helpful and friendly would definatley come back. Very Happy!

We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again sometime.

"A very relaxing holiday in this tastefully decorated cottage"

This cottage was very comfortable and we liked the modern style decoration. Very clean, big kitchen and 3 good sized bedrooms. Very quiet location (children could have a nap without being disturbed by any noise) and all amenities as well as the seaside are within walking distance... just 3 minutes to get to the promenade along the sea!. There is no private parking but it was not a problem at all to find a parking space in the adjacent road. At the front of the cottage is a gallery where somebody was always available if you had any question or if you needed anything: very convenient! Fabulous beaches around there and a well maintained walking path along the coast with stunning views. We really enjoyed our stay and had a very relaxing holiday with our 3 young children. Our 3 years old even did not want to leave and go back home...

We are thrilled you enjoyed our cottage so much and have many happy family memories of your stay.

"Superb accommodation in the heart of Mumbles"

We normally stay with family when visiting Swansea, but the inn was full. We decided on this rental as it was close (3-5 min walk) to Mumbles and (more importantly for us) close to the wonderful Rotherslade beach (10-15 min walk). When we arrived we were met by the owners and they talked us through this totally refurbished cottage. They have done a wonderful job with it. Everything is brand new and sparkly! We took our teenage son, and my brother, his wife and they 5 month old baby. There was plenty of room for us all. This is a great base to explore Mumbes and the Gower peninsula.

We are really pleased you had such a great time. It is really important to us for everyone to have a fantastic time. Hope to see you again soon. Thanks for the flowers it was very kind of you.
