Description from owner

Description

Cattewater View is a house for families, couples and of course friends. It is a modern yet charming townhouse in a historic fishing village called Turnchapel and it is a home - from - home.

The accommodation is laid out over the top two floors of a three storey house, above living space with a shared entrance and shower bathroom at ground level, with a private door leading up to the middle floor with the lovely lounge/dining room and an open plan kitchen and private outdoor patio with seating. Leading up to the top floor, there is a stylish family bathroom and two bedrooms with attractive views. The front bedroom overlooks the marina with a king sized bed and the second bedroom overlooks a lush green quarry face and is arranged with two slim (75cm) single beds which can be arranged as a double bed.

Neutrally decorated and simply furnished, the house is exceptionally quiet: a place to snooze on the sofa, hang in the hammock, read a book or catch up on the news, TV or radio.

Neutrally decorated and simply furnished, the house is exceptionally quiet: a place to snooze on the sofa, hang in the hammock, read a book or catch up on the news, TV or radio. The kitchen is really well equipped, including with a dishwasher, and there are games and books. The private patio has a picnic table with parasol; it is a secluded sun trap during midday.

Check out time is 12 and you are free to arrive at any time after 3pm there may be flexibility with these times, just ask. Small well behaved dogs are welcome too but out of the bedrooms. Please note the hot tub is no longer available. Towels and bed linen and baby cot are provided free of charge.

There is LIMITED PARKING OUTSIDE just for one small car only- it is best used just for drop off of your bags,/shopping or young children etc- and then use one of the three free public car parks very near by, all no more than a very pleasant three minute stroll through the attractive and friendly village.

Location description from owner

The England region

The South West is a memorable place to visit, with plenty of coastline and hilltops to visit. There is so much to see and do here! There is St Ives, the Minack Theatre, Looe and Polperro, the Eden Project within reach. Plymouth itself is a bustling city at the foothills of the National Park Dartmoor with the National Marine Aquarium, the Royal William Yard, the Hoe and Plymouth Sound, where Drake and Scott learnt of the water.

Mount Batten

Turnchapel is a small fishing village at the mouth of the Plym River- across the water is the Hoe and Barbican -it is next to a water area known as the Cattewater (pronounced Cat Water). It is within the suburbs of Plymouth within Plymstock close to Mount Batten and Jennicliff beaches only 5 minutes walk away. The village is a forty minute walk from Bovisands Beach along a lovely route and similarly the interesting coastal path to Plymouth city centre and the Barbican/Hoe takes 90 minutes (or short water taxi trip away).

“Charming holiday cottage”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2016

Right by the water's edge this charming cottage is ideal for a quiet break whilst still being close to all the attractions of south Devon and the city of Plymouth as well as the south west coastal path. Two pubs within literally 100 yards walk and shop and post office, takeaway etc are within ten minutes walk. The ferry from Mountbatten to the Barbican means you can get into town very easily, or take the bus which is frequent. The village of Turnchapel is a delight - beautifully restored multi coloured cottages with balconies full of summer flowers and second and third floor terraces made of decking for outdoor living. Enjoy!

“Tranquil, homely and well presented”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2016

This is the best self catering accommodation we have stayed. Very homely comfortable setting and the view from the main bedroom is a delight. Really enjoyed the new modern kitchen and gorgeous bathroom. Cleanliness was spot! However, all of the above was greatly enhanced by the owners communication with us; Nikki was very attentive and caring for our needs. The village Turnchappel, is a little tight for driving through but so tranquil. It encouraged us to go for lovely walks to the Mount Batten pier and taking the water taxi across, was quite an experience. We will definitely go there again.
