Location description from owner

The Abruzzo region

This is a special region with beautiful and always changing landscapes.Wine alone could provide a worthy motive for touring this area. With 7 D.O.C.(Denominazione Origine Controllata) wines and vineyards and wineries to tour. The region has made a decided effort to move towards low impact organic farming methods, resulting in small farms producing top-quality produce. Cheeses, ham, salami, olive oil, wheat for pasta, lentils and truffles. Apart from the lovely fresh food always wisely cooked in restaurants or in countless Festivals, Abruzzo boasts sandy beaches, art galleries and museums, castles and fortresses, Romanesque churches, abbeys, several National Parks, medieval towers and archaeological sites. Add to that stunning landscapes, sunshine, shoe and designer outlet shopping, Italian ice cream and smiling people - what more could a visitor want?Rome Intercontinental Airport Leonardo da Vinci is 220km distant and Pescara Airport is just 39 km away. A14 motorway Giulianova/Mosciano Sant'Angelo exit is 8 km away.

Mosciano Sant'Angelo

In few km you can be at the full-equipped sandy beaches of Tortoreto and Giulianova, full of trendy clubs and bars, stylish restaurants with nouvelle cuisine or taverns with old flavours, tasty ice-cream shops, famous fish and meat take-aways, parks for kids, very long cycle paths from town to town and a very amusing water park Onda blu.Historical medieval towns are all over on the hills and an amazing Fortress in Civitella not far away. An astronomic observatory is just in Mosciano and opens several nights a week. Hand-made and painted pottery can be bought in the famous town of Castelli, meanwhile pure liquorice liquers and sweets in Atri just 15 mins away. You can choose to go to a famous bucolic walk on the amazing Salinello Gorges or to a very ancient necropolis in the Campovalano archeological park just 20 mins.Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains Nat. Park is 40 mins far where mountain lovers or not can see the highest peak and the only glacier of the Apennines, choosing among lots of itinerarires on horseback, on foot, by bike, for families too. Here they sell autochthone and tasteful products like: fresh ricotta, goat's cheese, legumes, wines, oils, mortadella, country salami and sausages, lard, pure saffron, preserves, mixed flower honey, violet potatoes, hot lamb skewers, ancient wheat......Sport lovers also can enjoy themselves with surfing, paragliding, horse riding, sailing, sport centers. The list of things to do can be endless but we'll provide it at your arrival, with all sites, addresses and distances.
