“Lovely stay at Cromlech”
The house was lovely and bedroom space was brilliant for a big group, however that downstairs space is a little cramped. Despite this we had a fab time and lots of fun on the evenings taking advantage of the large kitchen table. The host was lovely and very responsive to any questions or queries. The location of the house is fabulous and gives easy access to woolacombe beach and town.
Owner's reply: Thank you for staying at Cromlech House, and for your review. The space planning and sofas of Cromlech House's ground floor front room will be revised this autumn.
“Lovely house, great position, lovely walks to Morte Point, great surfing beaches nearby.”
The house is ideally located up in the village of Mortehoe. Views across fields of sheep at the back. You can walk along the cliff tops and if you are lucky you can see seals down below. There is a choice of good surfing beaches nearby, Woolacombe, Croyde and many other smaller bays (which are my preference) There is plenty of room in the house which has been refurbished maximising light and space. There is a large kitchen with a large dining table which makes for fun meal times.
“Heavenly outdoors holiday location”
We have just returned from this great house in Morteho, having spent 2 weeks there with friends and young children. The location is unbeatable, with the surfing beaches a fantastic walk down a scenic path with incredible views across the north Devon coast. We had 3 spectacularly beautiful beaches to choose from for crabbing, sandcastle building, surfing and boogie boarding...etc.....It was perfect! Our kids have rated this their favourite holiday so far ! Beating holidays in Greece and Ile De Re hands down...and we would consider it up there with the best. The house is lovely and spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. Only downside is the lack of outside space, which is why i am not scoring 5 stars, but really this is harsh as the house is perfect in every other way, and the location more than made up for this, as we spent the entire day out in the great outdoors, and the house is right in the heart of a lovely village (with a great pub across the road). We would also definitely love to go back next year. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this property and location.
“Fantastic well equipped house in a picture perfect location”
We found Cromlech House a terrific place to stay, a very well equipped house in the beautiful village of Mortehoe. The house has great character, is large and spacious and met all our needs. It has a great sized kitchen for cooking, eating and socialising in. Great TV and Wifi facilities. The location of the house is ideal is such a beautiful picture perfect village and surrounded by little shops, 3 pubs, a restaurant and a Cream Tea cafe what more do you need. The village of Woolacombe just nextdoor is also a beautiful place with it's sweeping award winning beach. We hired bikes from Otter Cycle Hire in Braunton and completed a 16 mile ride on the Tarka trail through Barnstaple and around the Taw Estuary to Fremington. There are other both shorter and longer routes you can do passing places of interest and with many places to stop for refreshments along the way. We travelled also to Clovelly which was a beautiful and interesting village set in the side of the hill running downhill to the shore. We would also recommend a visit to the quaint village of Croyde which also has a great beach. Dominic, the owner runs a very smooth operation with excellent communication throughout every stage of the booking, the holiday and very prompt repayment of the security deposit after the holiday. We couldn't fault the house, the location or the service we received from Dominic. We hope to return again soon.
“Great house in perfect location - perfect for 2 families”
The house is situated in the heart of a lovely village surrounded by stunning beaches and scenery. Great place to unwind and relax and we didn't use the car all week (other than the daily shuttle run to dump all the beach / surfing gear down at the beach!) We stayed in the house for our family holiday with friends and the accommodation was very comfortable for two families. The children took over the top floor which they loved!! The house would also be suited to groups of adults. We were initially concerned about the lack of outdoor space but it really wasn't an issue as the headland and beaches are literally on the doorstep and there was plenty of room in the house for drying out wet clothes / wetsuits etc. Dom and Iona are both really friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome in their house. Would definately recommend and looking forward to re booking in the future!
“Excellent location and beautiful house”
Our stay at Cromlech house was an absolute delight. The house slept 8 comfortably and had an excellent kitchen diner area as well as a large front room. The house was beautifully furnished and had all the necessary kitchen equipment to cook up a storm. The house is ideally located in the centre of Mortehoe and only a short walk from the beach and local pubs. There’s a small but perfectly stocked deli next door to the house that sells a variety of fresh produce and does a lovely cream tea. All in all our stay at Cromlech was lovely, we will definitely we returning in the near future. I would recommend this house to families and groups of friends looking for a little beach escape.
“fantastic, you must stay here”
I found Cromlech house after almost giving up looking for a place for us & our six friend to celebrate new year, as we only wanted a 4 day break i email Dominic about availability & pricing his response was very quick calling me that evening, he could not have been more helpful, after booking the property for our stay Dominic constantly stayed in contact giving us info & asking if there was anything that we needed to make our stay more comfortable the service he offers is outstanding, The house is a credit to its owners it has been restored to a very high standard, & has everything that is needed for a comfortable stay, the location is great, stand at the front door & you can see the sea, there are many coastal walks, & the village has 3 public houses, i would recommend a stay here you would not be disappointed
“Well-equipped, spacious and comfortable house in a picturesque setting!”
Beautiful, relaxing house with great views and walks from the doorstep. Booking process very easy, owners responded to all requests.
“Beautifully renovated clean, spacious house in lovely Devon village”
We loved Cromlech House and Mortehoe village. The house was spotlessly clean, spacious and v comfortable. Mortehoe has a great shop selling piping hot pasties and croissants as well as a good selection of basics. The Chichester Arms pub across the road was v welcoming and friendly to children. The surrounding countryside is stunning with lovely walks along the National Trust coastline. We particularly liked the walk down to Rockham beach. Croyde surfing beach and Baggy Point also fun - only 20 mins away. A great Easter family holiday! Thanks!
“Beautiful house next to a beautiful coastline!”
We loved our stay at Cromlech. The house felt very welcoming and very comfortable, which was really nice to come back to after a long surf! Mortehoe is charming and the locals are particularly friendly. Thank you for having us!
