Description

If you want a place where you can relax and enjoy the good things in life like quietness, relaxing next to a pool enjoying wine, olives and cheese or simply making your own pizzas in a wooden pizza oven, you have found the perfect place. Our home is located in a very small village with only a few inhabitants called Vale de Mouro, about 10km from the town Mortagua.

Here are some important details:

Ons Kaia:

This is a perfect house for a large family or group.

We have 2 X 200 square meters (2000 square feet) houses on one property. The first house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Every bedroom has a double bed (200cm X 200cm). Three of the bathrooms are en-suite and the fourth one is separate and downstairs. All bathrooms are equipped with showers, and a toilet. It has a big living room with sofas, a 55-inch TV, a dining room with a table for 6 people and a huge kitchen with all utilities including Nespresso and Dolce Gusto Coffee makers, fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc. There is also a very cozy fireplace in this house.

Lapa Side:

If you are in need of a house for even a bigger family you can rent the 2nd house on the property as well at an extra charge per person per night. This house can also be rented for a small extra fee for the use of the pool table, the large open dining room and kitchen, the laundry, etc.

This house has one large bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a very small bedroom with a separate bathroom. It has a very large open plan kitchen / dining room with a fireplace. This kitchen is also fully equipped. It has a dining table for 8 people. In this home there is an 80 square meters room where we currently have a full-size pool table, lounge set and a 65-inch TV.

The two houses can only be rented by one group to ensure you of your own privacy.

On the property there is a 10X4m swimming pool. This pool has lights in and outside the pool and can therefore also be used in the evenings. It also has a full cover which not only keeps the temperature of the water in the summer months at 30 degrees, it also makes it very safe for small children.

There is also a wooden pizza oven, a big barbeque and lots more. We have a full-size badminton table and 2 mountain bikes.

The property is situated in the mountains in a small town with about 50 houses and only a few inhabitants. Our property does not have direct neighbours and lies at the bottom of the valley with a view onto the Eucalyptus tree hills.

The property is situated 120km from Porto airport and 200km from Lisbon airport. It is a one hour and ten minutes’ drive from Porto Airport and two hour’s drive from Lisbon Airport.

You will be provided with bathroom towels and if needed we can provide you with towels for the swimming pool (at a small additional cost).

Beds will be provided with linen and clean linen and towels will be provided every extra week.

Arriving is possible after 14:00 and check out is at 11:00 (these are negotiable)

What to do in our valley:

There are lots of places to visit and things to do, but here are some highlights

MORTAGUA

Mortagua is about 10km from our home and it is approximately a 15 minute drive. There is a Fish and Meat Market Tuesdays and Thursdays. The town of Mortagua has everything for your daily needs including 2 supermarkets, doctors, dentist, banks, restaurants, and even an excellent wine cellar. There are various markets including the one in Vale d' Acores where you can eat the famous Portuguese piri piri chicken called Frango do Churasco.

PAREDES

There is a fantastic waterfall in the village of Paredes which is just 20 minutes away to visit.

AVEIRO

About 50 minutes away in a place called Aveiro you will find the most beautiful beaches with restaurants. At Aveiro, also known as Little Venice, you can explore the place on Gondolas and hear more about the history of the town.

LUSO (about 8km from Vale de Mouro)

In Luso you can find the beautiful Bussaco National Park which is part of the Unesco International Heritage. Bussaco Nattional Park consists of 105 hectares of centuries old walled forest, planted by the order of the Barefoot Carmelites in the 17th century. This famous botanical treasure includes specimens of rare and exotic plants collected from all over the world.

Luso is a world-renowned place for foreign visitors. This includes spas and other health facilities

COIMBRA

Coimbra is a lovely student city. An absolute must see. You can see the beautiful University as well as its world famous library built in 1717. This city also has some very nice big shopping malls that are open from 10:00 to 22:00 daily. There are also ancient ruins which you can visit in Coimbra.

Other beaches

The beaches of Figueira da Foz and Praia de Mira are only an hour's drive away. They are very well-known for surfing schools and trips. The world famous Nazere beach with the biggest waves in the world is only 1.5 hour's drive away.

If only the one house is rented, the other house on the property will not be accessible
Although we love dogs and cats no animals are allowed on the property but you are welcome to contact me for exceptions.
In both houses we have a very strict "No Smoking" policy. If this rule is not adhered to, an additional penalty will apply.
Please respect our house and our furniture. No wet costumes on the lounge chairs and beds please.
