Location description from owner

The Valencian Country region

Moraira is a picturesque coastal town in a bay on the South-Eastern coast of Spain. It is nestled between the resorts of Javea and Calpe. Once a sleepy fishing village, Moraira is a popular holiday destination for European visitors staying in is also sought after by its loyal following from Spain.
Surrounded by Costa Blanca's beautiful mountains, Moraira has 8 km of coastline with fine sandy beaches and inviting turquoise waters. Moraira's impressive marina is at the centre of its life. Much of Moraira's original character remains untouched due to strict planning laws, ensuring that the town is not over-developed. The area has a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, with beautiful un-spoilt scenery. In the evenings there is a great relaxed nightlife with locals and visitors coming together to enjoy the many restaurants and bars. Moraira has its own wide, sandy beach with gently-shelving, shallow waters. There are two family safe beaches in Moraira, both of which have been awarded the EEC Blue Flag for cleanliness (Costa Blanca boasts around 34 Blue Flag beaches).
If either coming along the national highway N-332 or by AP-7 ( pay highway), the landscape is filled with vineyards and there is a nice wine cellar to be visited. There is a great street market in Teulada, just 8 kilometres inland from Moraira.
If you are lucky to be there in July, the Patron Saint is the Virgin of the Unsheltered and the Virgin of Carmen who is said to protect the sailors and fishermen. There is a beautiful parade and fireworks and a water procession with the statue of the Virgin floating among endless bouquets of flowers. Quite a scene to be seen!
To sum it up, Moraira is really worth a visit. With its mild Moraira weather and its traditional way of life, the town found its way to maintain its identity and combine it with the goods of modern tourism. If you are in the area, you should really visit Moraira and see for yourself.

Other towns
Had enough of the beach? Try visiting Benissa (8 km) and its splendid old church. Altea (31 km) is also a good option. It has a wonderful city centre that will send you right back to the middle ages with its narrow streets and splendid views of the sea. In the area surrounding Montgo, you can discovery an interesting coastal town called Javea (12 km). Along the beautiful coastal road to the south, you can see about 11 km of the impressive rock Penon de Ifach (332 m). If you go inland, drive out to Aitana (80 km), where you can climb the highest mountain in the province (1558 m) and enjoy the fantastic panoramic view. On the way, you can view the wild landscapes and impressive mountain tops and check out Guadalest (42 km), a secluded mountain village built against the rocks.
For an active sports vacation, Villa Xenofilia in Moraira on the Costa Blanca in Spain is also just the right place. Several vacation homes, namely vacation villas Xenofilia I, II and V, have a private tennis court and/or ping-pong table.
The seawater and the beaches at Moraira are some of the most beautiful ones in Europe and have officially been awarded the “blue flag”, which, of course is great for the various water sports, especially scuba diving, because you can enjoy a clear view of a spectacular world. In addition, you can play all kinds of sports, such as tennis, golf, volleyball, basketball and karting and participate in several other sporting activities, in the friendly, somewhat fashionable town of Moraira

“Excellent Villa, great location”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2016

The villa had everything you need to be very comfortable, bedrooms both with modern and very nice en-suites, bedrooms had great air conditioning, lounge area was comfortable with good tv selection. Outside area again was very comfortable with area to eat, sun loungers, and a decent size pool with a shallow end - great for kids. There is a supermarket close and several restaurants within walking distance. We tended to eat in Moraira most nights which could be walked and we did once but was a bit too far for our 4 year old so used taxis in the evening, it was a very peaceful and relaxing setting but not too far from everything too.

“Relaxing and extremely comfortable villa”

Casa Delfiin is a clean, spacious and comfortable villa on one level, with a beautiful pool where you will want for nothing. We were met and shown around the villa and were also greeted with an unexpected welcome pack (thank you Sue) which was very helpful until we could stock up at the very good supermarket at the end of the road. We were also treated to a change of bed linen and towels half way through the holiday which was lovely. The peacefulness and the views from the outside area were great to chill out, but also there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearly, although we mainly drove into Moraira as we love it there so much (it is walkable). We have booked again already for 2016 so that we dont miss out on a fantastic villa. It is our favorite villa so far in several years of visiting the area. A great find!

“Fabulous pool area and conveniently located villa.”

A lovely modern villa, big open plan living space with everything you need. English TV was great to catch up on the Commonwealth Games every now and then but we enjoyed sitting outside so much that we didn't need it! Everywhere was lovely and clean, the two bathrooms very large, bath in one and big shower in the other. The pool area is really lovely - big pool and loads of space around it for sunbeds. The undercover shaded area is also large with wind down canopies for the afternoon when the sun starts to get into it. Pool was maintained and cleaned several times while we were there. Villa all on one level and compact so easy to keep an eye on the kids in the pool inside and out. The situation of the villa is also very good, pool completely private and at the end of a little cul-de-sac so very quiet and peaceful. It is a couple of minutes drive from a couple of large supermarkets and lots of restaurants all along the road to Moraira. We walked to the nearest ones easily in the evening and without the children I think we would have walked right into Moraira as there is a path with lovely sea views all the way. I'm guessing it would have been about half an hour walk (but not with kids!). It was very hot when we were there in August so we didn't venture out too often but there are lots of places to visit in the area. It was extremely busy everywhere in August though - beaches, restaurants etc which is why we enjoyed the tranquillity of the villa so much. If there is one criticism it is that you can't see the sea from the villa although the view of the mountains from the pool area is fairly stunning!
