Our water mill built in 1735 is in the heart of the Loire Valley overlooking beautiful forest and peaceful Indre river; the region referred to as the Cradle of the French Language, and the Garden of France.
Notable for its historic towns, architecture and wines, In 2000, UNESCO added the central part of the Loire River valley to its list of World Heritage Sites.
A bike ride away from Chateau de Cande where on 3 June 1937 the castle was the venue for the marriage between the Duke of Windsor, the former King Edward VIII, and the American Wallis Simpson. It is now open to public and strolling in the park is a delight .
We are also close to Saché ( musée of French writer Balzac, and french home of American sculptor Calder ), Azay le Rideau ( one of the earliest Renaissance chateaux ), Villandry gardens ( The Chateau of Villandry is the last of the great chateaux of the Loire built during the Renaissance in the Loire Valley ), Ussé (the castle of sleeping beauty ).
Just across the bridge from our mill, are 2 restaurants, newsagent, bakery, beauty salon, church, public library as well as a bus stop for direct transportation to Tours or Sache and to the local train station from where you will be reaching either downtown Tours (10 mn journey) or Poitiers if you are heading south.
A little further down the road, is a pizzeria, a new spa complex with indoor swimming pool, supermarkets, gas station, post office and more.
Monts also offers 2 Farmer's markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

"A beautiful place ideally located"
We had a great week at Mill Mountain in a well-equipped and nicely decorated, with a nice view studio. Our guests were available, very kind and a very good source of information about things to do around the area. The place is ideally located for exploring the region: Azay le Rideau and Candé castle are accessible by bike. Tennis, mini golf, pool and shops within walking distance. Greta place, great people.

"Picturesque & Peaceful stay in Monts"
I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to explore the wider loire valley region. As an old water mill alongside the river the setting is stunning and is a great base for exploring the sights in surrounding areas. The hosts are very friendly and helpful with plenty of great tourist and restuarant recommendations. The WiFi was good and reliable.

Beautiful property in an amazing surrounding of nature and water. Very peaceful and charming. David and Liz made us feel like home. A nice bottle of Chinon wine and snacks were offered when we arrived. They also spent precious time with us providing valuable information of points of interest along with restaurants recommendations. The Mill is located in close proximity of the loire valley chateaux and museums. Our kids enjoyed playing in the garden and canoeing. Highly recommended.
