Location description from owner

The Dordogne region

Caminade is situated in a quiet corner of the Dordogne surrounded by countryside. But with in a 10 minute drive you can be in the beautiful market town of Ste Foye la Grande or jump on the motorway and you are only 60 mins from Bordeaux or Perigueux.

A lot of visitors to Caminade enjoy sitting by the pool and relaxing but for the more energetic of you we have close by tennis courts, a small golf course, horse riding or fishing in our lake. The lake holds carp up to 15 lbs they are wiley fish and take some catching but we have had some satisfied customers who have managed to catch one or two. Or perhaps you like walking with or with out a dog in which case we have lots of walks for you to enjoy.

Sight seeing is a a must for a lot of our clients and they find Caminade is situated perfectly for travelling either way to to enjoy most of the sights in the area.

Montpon-Menesterol

St Meard de Gurcon, the nearest village, is a 5 minute car ride away and you have all the amenities shops, bars etc., a 15 minute car ride away at Montpon Menestrel.

Local restaurants provide excellent cuisine and a fine selection of wines for you to enjoy. Also there are plenty of activities in the area, horse riding, golf, fishing, swimming, bike riding, go karting.

“Fantastic clean Holiday gite, with super hosts!!”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2013

Thank you Lynn and Dave and ofcourse Poppy... We have had a lovely vacation, in a clean, lovely decorated gite. with the best swimmingpool ever!! temperatuur Always 30 and up! good beds a lot of space nice bathroom, wit a GOOD shower!! and no tourists!! Bauke is homesick, because of all the space she is missing. We hope that you will have the gite as long as possible, because we ar comming back for sure!! Have a good season, and thanks again! Kind regards, Ralph and Frank Bauke

“lovely gite in superb location”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2013

we had a lovely 2 week holiday and although the weather was changeable it did not spoil our stay, we found our hosts Lynette and Dave very welcoming and were very helpful but not intrusive, the gite is very characterful, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The pool was great to use on the hot sunny days of our stay and Poppy was very entertaining with her unique twist on "fetch" while you were in the pool, how she resists not jumping in the pool to retrieve the ball is beyond me but she did! We would definitely recommend staying here and when we return to the Dordogne this is where we will stay

“Lovely gite”

Really lovely accom, and very attentive hosts. Dog Poppy a star, she'll have to learn to pick the ball out of the pool though!!

“what a great holiday”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2012

we would like to say a big thank you to lynn and dave for a lovely time at there gite. You gave us such a warm welcomen we say when we arrived and when ever we see you. Can we say that poppy was a great play mate for Micheal and he will bring her a new toy next year when we come back. We cant wait to be there in september.

Thank you Carol and Michael it was lovely to have you all stay and we are looking forward to your visit next year. Poppy is excited too.

“Very peaceful location, lovely gite and fabulous pool!”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2012

We spent two lovely weeks at Caminade. The location is very peaceful, with lots of outdoor space for the kids (ages 9 and 5) to safely run about in without needing constant supervision. The gite is very comfortable and well equipped and Lynette and Dave are very welcoming. The local scenery was fantastic, we had great weather and the pool is superb! Perfect for a dip after a day out or for a lazy day of sunbathing. The kids loved it, it was their holiday highlight along with playing with Poppy the dog. We all had a great time, came away thoroughly relaxed (even the kids) and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Caminade for your holiday.

Thank you Alison. It was a pleasure to have you and your lovely family stay at Caminade. You would be welcome to stay again at any time.

“Fantastic gite!”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2012

We had a lovely stay at Caminade. The owners and their family were very helpful and approachable. The dog Poppy was a star. Our 1 year old daughter loved the pool. The location is great and relaxing. Lots of markets nearby and plenty of day trips if desired. The gite itself us very clean and has everything you'll possibly need. Thank you.

Thanks for your lovely review. It was great having you and your family stay at Caminade. Hope to see you again sometime. Lynette

“Very relaxing and enjoyable stay at Caminade”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2012

We stayed here for two weeks and apart from the weather not being as friendly as it could have been we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The gite is very traditional, spacious and clean. The beds very comfortable, infact think its the best we have ever slept on holiday - whether that was the comfy beds or that you are miles from anywhere so lovely and quiet!! The gardens are lovely with option to sit front or back of the Gite and a good size pool - just a shame we did not get to use more and play with Poppy (the ball mad dog) more!! Owners very pleasant, helpful and even though they live next door they do not invade your space.

Thanks Felicia for your great review. Enjoyed having you stay at Caminade and pleased you enjoyed staying here. Thanks again

“Photographs very misleading”

Reviewed 24 Jun 2012

We booked two weeks in Caminade based on the description and photos, but, on arrival, were disappointed. This gite is damp and nowhere as near a bright as the photos suggest. The kitchen is poorly equipped with nowhere to store any food, the crockery and cutlery had seen better days and there was no freezer as claimed in the description, just a small under counter fridge with an under performing ice box . The beds were comfortable, although the old wooden bedframes had seen better days and the damp issue really needs addressing as all our clothes and the bedding never felt properly dry. The pool area is lovely and a real credit to the property, but the gite is attached to the owners house which again the photos do not show.

I am disappointed that this client was not satisfied with Caminade. The points she has raised regarding 'not as bright and sunny as the advert' and 'damp' maybe caused by the fact that whilst this client stayed at Caminade she rarely opened the shutters, curtains or the windows. Had she done so this would have allowed the sun in and the air to circulate through the property. It is clearly stated in the advert that Dave & I live on site, this also enables us to deal immediately with any issues our clients may have, if we are told. As regards cutlery and bedding again cutlery is replaced every year where necessary and the bedding every two years. I do agree the freezer is small and is situated in the fridge. My husband and I work hard to ensure that all our clients have a good and enjoyable holiday whilst they stay in Caminade and this is re-enforced with returning clients year after year. Is is a shame that this client could not tell us of her issues whilst staying at Caminade, even though she was happy to accept our hospitality on a number of occasions. We have rented Caminade for 9 years and this is our first disappointing review. I hope it does not deter people from coming to stay here and having a great holiday.

“Sun, Peace, comfort and Friendliness”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2011

We shared with two friends and had a fantastic holiday !! The place was bright, clean and airy, and the family were really friendly and helpful - all except 'Grumpy Cat' who was quite a character, and dear Poppy - what a wonderful dog. A very good base for touring and plenty of room (both sun and shade) It was very well equipped and would reccomend it. We would dearly love to return but it is a long drive - and I am not getting any younger.

“Comfortable Gite in excellent location.”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2011

We stayed at Caminade for 2 weeks at the end of July and had a lovely holiday. The Gite is comfortable and has all the facilities you need. We found the location excellent as, although the Gite is out in the middle of nowhere the road links are nearby making it easy to explore the area. We took our dog and found the area particularly good for dog-walking, with open fields all around. All in all a great little Gite for a couple or a small family with the added bonus of the owners being on hand to offer information and a really nice pool.
