“Quite & spotlessly clean”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2018

Just spent a week in this beautiful Gite and would strongly recommend it to all. The owner very welcoming and even supplied us with some eggs from their chickens and home made jam. The Gite is perfectly located for site seeing in the Normandy area. Four of us stayed there and there was ample room for all of us and we would have no hesitation in staying there again. I would highly recommend staying here.

“Fully equipped, stunning location and 5 star hospitality”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2018

With a 2 year-old and our first family holiday away we searched for a self catering cottage that would accommodate our daughter first and foremost. Valerie and Albans Gite was fully equipped for a young child right down to books an toys and even a stroller! Stair gates on every staircase meant the safety for our daughter was paramount which made this place as stress free as it could have been (with a 2 year-old it's never going to be as relaxing as you hope!). Even the outdoor play area was perfect for little ones to have the best stay! And she loved the nosey chickens. Valerie also brought us over some fresh eggs from the chickens mid-week which was lovely. She was very helpful with recommending places to visit and even though the language was abit of a barrier, google translate was helpful and Valerie always had a smile on her face. Oh and the homemade jam, chocolates and bottle of cider was a welcome gift after a long day travelling! It certainly gave me a taste of the amazing Normandy ciders and I couldn't stop searching all week for more. With regards to the location, the Gite is only just over an hour drive from the Cherbourg ferry on very easy quiet roads and set in the most beautiful location overlooking the valley but also close to a local village for a butchers, minimart and patisserie. Also it is around an hour drive (give or take) to visit most things that you would want to see from DDay beaches and the stunning St Mont Michel. So location was perfect with the views to boot. I have already recommended Valerie and Albans Gite to friends and family and we most certainly will be back in the future. Thank you so much for having us Valerie and Alban x

Owner's reply: Thank you for this nice message ! We hope you have made a good trip back and that everything is fine for you and pretty Florence. We hope to see you again someday ! Valérie and Alban

“Relaxing and beautiful”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2014

I would highly recommend la clef des champs for anyone looking for a relaxing Normandy stay. The cottage is within easy drive of all the tourist hotspots. For the grown ups it was simply relaxing and beautiful. And our daughter loved the playground , especially the cute little playhouse, and the friendly animals. Stephanie and David were lovely and provided everything you could possibly need.

“A fantastic stay - will return”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2013

My hubby and I stayed with our two young boys (2 & 1) in June this year. I can not fault our stay at all, it was the perfect getaway. Our hostess was friendly, helpful and attentive. The accommodation a comfortable, clean relaxing haven and equipped with everything we could possibly need. Our boys had plenty of space to run around and explore and our eldest did not want to leave his new 'home' as he called it nor his new little friend and asked if we could live there ! I would not hesitate in recommending La Clef des Champs, we would and will return at some point in the future.

“A lovely and quiet place to stay in Normandy”

Reviewed 27 May 2013

We spent 4 days in this lovely Gites. Roselyne gave us a friendly welcome with a lot of advices about what to do in the surrounding. Plus, there was a little gift at arrival : a fresh hand-baked bread and jam. Very Appreciated ! The house was well-decorated, (very) well-equipped and, most of all, very neat ! We were only 2, so we slept in the "parental" bedroom, cosy with a good and large bed. I recommend to stay here without hesitation if you are seeking for nature and a peaceful place.

“Lovely spring break in the French countryside”

Reviewed 21 May 2013

Arriving tired after our journey, it was a good start to our holiday to find the gite warm and welcoming with flowers, cider and freshly baked bread. Despite the rather damp weather, we walked across the fields to the river (we were glad we'd remembered to pack our wellies!), and explored some of the country paths, and went in the car to Coutances, and other nearby towns. One afternoon we went to the seaside at Gouville. We were very pleased by the variety of scenery so accessible from the gite. We were very impressed with the accommodation, which was spotlessly clean and well appointed, and it was reassuring that the Owner spoke excellent English.
