The Languedoc-Roussillon region
The region has a rich cultural history, evident in the many places to visit and discover. Some like the Roman ruins of Arles or Nimes will show the magnificent architecture of the time, and how this has evolved to present day.
The city of Montpellier ,one of several in the region is a beautiful modern busy place, in I believe the fastest growing region of France after Paris.
Of course you have within easy reach some of the best beaches on the Med and being on the edges of Provence you can experience all that this has to offer in dining and ambience.
If you like your wines visit the village and winery of the Chateauneuf Du Pape and sample to your hearts delight.
We provide plenty of up to date tourist info in the chalet ,so you will have a wide choice of places to visit and things to see.
Depending on your interest, you could visit the open air Sunday market in Arles, while at the same time have a coffee in the cafe from the painting by Vincent Van Gogh.
If you like the mountains you could drive north in the direction of Nimes/Avignon and after a meal along the river in the old town of Sommieres, decide to go hiking .cycling or driving in the Cevennes, or perhaps visit the city of Avignon with its rich cultural legacy including the Palais de Papes.
The city of Nimes ,a 25 minute drive has many well preserved Roman ruins.
You might want to visit the listed preserved town of Aigues Mortes, and from there take a day cruise on the river while the staff cater to your every wish.

"A comfortable and well placed rental with adequate facilities"
We enjoyed visiting Aigues-Mortes ( Restaurant "S" a highlight), Pont du Gard, and Pavalas des Flottes (an interesting harbour, good beach and water sports). Nearest village of Gallargues was interesting to walk round as was the walled village of Sommiere. The apartment was comfortable and clean. Good tennis court, strong shower and all round good facilities for the money. Owner responded quickly to any queries and was very helpful. Best purchase a 1:100,000 scale map to explore country roads and keep off the motorway!

"Great base to explore a wide area in a beautiful part of the world"
Les Jesses is ideal for a family with small children, but our three teenage girls found it great - lovely old French hillside town with narrow streets and sandstone buildings and good restaurants is about five mins walk. Cheap reliable car hire available from local Super U supermarket. Easy access by car to Montpellier, Avignon, Arles and countless medieval and historic towns and the coast. Villa was clean, fresh, modern and adjacent to the compound's pools and hotel. Two double beds - one bathroom with overhead shower, outside barbecue area - no noise, and little shop and laundry in the compound - small but well kitted out kitchen - TV, Internet, available. Good value for money too.
