Description

1 of two self catering options in Les Rosiers, the Garden apartment is light and airy, views on to Garden, has dbl bedroom with en-suite. The owners live onsite and the apartment is located in the main house/Les Rosiers, but with private entrance+private outside seating area/ private lounge with pull out sofa bed for extra family memeber if needed. Extra nightly cost of 8€ after 2 people. A kitchenette with two ring burner, small integral fridge, nespresso machine, elec kettle, pots pans, plates etc. ) 2 bikes are available for use at guests own responsibility, first come first served, no charge. Direct access to all outside seating and heated saltwater indoor pool. June-Oct.

Les Rosiers is in Les Bories, a small working walnut farm hamlet. 2mins walk to the Vezere river.

The little village of Thonac with its well stocked shop, restaurant and bar, is 4 k away.

Living in a world heritage valley/site ie; teh Vezere valley, you will be spoilt for choice for things to do and places to visit. The medieval town of Sarlat; Les Eyzies, home to the National Museum of Pre-History; and several of the Plus Beaux Villages de France including St Leon sur Vézère, Beynac, Castelnaud, and Domme, are within a twenty mile radius of the house.

The wonderful attractions in the immediate area include pre-historic parks and caves; eg: COMMARQUE magical, Roque Saint Christophe, Grotte de Rouffignac, Gouffre de Proumysac, Madeleine , chateau de Losse, Chateau de Saufeboeuf, Chateau des Milandes, ....gardens; and magnificent castles dating back to the Hundred Years War.

The many and varied activities on the doorstep include canoeing, horse-riding, walking, cycling and paragliding, bee keeping.

There are also many attractions such as an aquarium, a treetop adventure park and a heritage theme park. To name them all would need a book - the list is endless....!

Those looking to experience the gastronomic delights of the region will find a nearby market on every day of the week offering the very best that local producers have to offer. There are many opportunities to sample the fine foods and wine that this area is famous for.

The Dordogne region

We/Les Rosiers are/is situated in the heart of The Vezere Valley. Les Bories / our hamlet, is overlooking the east banks of The Vezere River and the beautiful Chateau de Losse. Les Bories iis nestled between the characteristic town of Montignac (4k) and small village of Valojoulx (2k) we are just off the D65 rd, 4k south of Montignac.

1.hr10mins minutes drive from Bergerac and just 40 minutes from Brive Airports we are also within two hours of both Toulouse and Bordeaux Airports, both major access points to this part of France.

Rail and motorway links are also excellent 4hr 10 mins from Paris to Brive, direct, Hertz car rental at Brive station, then 40 mins to Les Rosiers.

We are also within an easy days drive from the Channel portsand ports of northern Spain.

Visitors from Scandinavia flying to The Dordogne may wish to consider going via some airports in The United Kingdom such as, Stansted, Bristol, East Midlands and Southampton as this will allow you to take advantage of cheper flights with carriers such as Ryan Air and Fly Be into our nearest airport Brive or Bergerac. Currently there are no direct flights from Scandinavia into Bergerac but Hop! operate a flight from Gothenburg to Limoges, two hours from us. Hop! are also great for internal flights.

Airlines currently servicing our nearest airports, Brive(40 minutes) are: Ryan Air, HOP !, City Jet and Europe Airpost. and Bergerac (1hr10minutes) are: Ryan Air, Jet2, FlyBe, Twin Jet and Transavia.

Things to do/about, the region /Aquitaine.

This Region ie: Vallee de Vezere/Dordogne - "Perigord Noir"........has the highest concentrations of Frances' most beautiful villages".

" Les Rosiers" rentals/chambre d'hote is in the hamlet of Les Bories, a small working walnut farm hamlet. 2mins walk to the Vezere river. Cross the road to my neighbours farm/ Msr Braserie to buy walnut oil/l'huille de noix

The charming market town of Montignac sur Vezere and the famous Lascaux caves /New Lascaux IV centre are just a 5 minute drive to the north, and the pre-historic troglodyte fortress of La Roque Saint-Christophe a ten minute drive to the South. Next door to that is the amazing Maison de forte Reignac, open to visitors all year round. Chateau de Losse, across the river from here, open May -sept. You will be spoilt for choice for things to do and places to visit. The medieval towns of Sarlat; Les Eyzies, home to the National Museum of Pre-History; and several of the Plus Beaux Villages de France including St Leon sur Vézère, Beynac, Castelnaud, and Domme, are within a twenty mile radius of the house.

There is also a larger famous market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in Sarlat, 25 mins drive. There are many opportunities to sample the fine foods and wine that this area is famous for...June to end of August there are the Marche Gourmands /Night markets food music, in local villages. Food, wine dancing. Personal favourites are Valojoulx on a Friday night, 2k away, start around 6:30pm. Saint Leon sur Vezere, Thursday nights (dancing here) and Saint Amand du Coly Tuesday nights.

Also the fabulous annual music festival in Montignac June 21st. Also in July.

Dining:

The little village of Thonac with its well stocked shop, restaurant and bar, is less than a mile away.

Favourite restaurants are as follows , lunch or dinner, Le 4 excellent for fine dining, just outside of Montignac.

Or for typical- family style Perigordine fare try the local auberge's

Auberge's Le Bareil (6 course long lunch 25€ wine uncld) is the next village left after le Chappelle Aubareil 10 mins drive.

Auberge du Peyrol/chez Jenine Reservations needed for both in Sergeac 5 mins drive.

Auberge de Poste or Du Pont in Saint Leon sur Vezere 10 mins drive.

Auberge Archambeau in Thonac 5 mins drive.

Lou Bombareau , or chez Fany both also very good...close to the church on Rue de Juillet in Montignac.
