Amidst glorious mountain scenery and spectacular olive groves, this spacious, well-equipped family home is the ideal base for your self-catering holiday. The house is situated in the original part of the mountain village of Montejaque (i.e. near the top), and the incredible panoramic view from the roof terrace makes the climb up from the nearest parking area (200m away) worthwhile.
The house has three bedrooms, all with plenty of storage. The large Master Bedroom has a double sleigh bed and French windows with mountain views; Bedroom 2 features two single beds; and Bedroom 3 has a single day bed in a curtained room next to the landing library – which has a writing desk, reading chair and a good selection of books.
There are two bathrooms: one with bath, overhead shower, WC and washbasin; the other with shower, bidet, WC, washbasin, and the washing machine. This is located one floor beneath the roof terrace, which has tables/chairs/umbrellas for 4-6 people, and from which you can appreciate the magnificent mountain scenery.
A large living room, with comfortable seating (sleeper couch and two armchairs), plus TV and DVD player, leads you into the arched dining room, with table and chairs for six.
The well-equipped kitchen has an electric hob/oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher and many small electrical appliances.
Summer clients can use the shared semi-private swimming pool, a 5-minute (downhill) walk from the house.
We recently published a cookbook and village guide, indicating the location of the banks, pharmacy, doctor, bakery and the numerous small shops, tapas bars and restaurants in this beautiful 'pueblo blanco' ... which is located only 15 minutes' drive from the historic town of Ronda.
You will always have fond memories of your stay in Montejaque.

"Wild flowers birds and a sparkling white village"
We really enjoyed our stay in Carolyn's house. The house is very comfortable and very well appointed we like to cook and everything we needed was there. It was like being in our own home. Montejaque is a lovely village it's not a tourist village at all there's a couple of bars a couple of restaurants and a village square. But overhead there are Griffen Vultues wheeling on mighty wings , Swifts darting between the white houses and wild flowers everywhere. Carolyn is a great hostess. We went to a wine tasting where we all got gently merry and wound up best friends with some Americans ! I went to a Yoga class's which was terrific. The tiny little teacher was as supple as a snake and the rest of us oldies just creaked along behind her. Great fun. Just be warned Las Hormingus is very high up in the village and it's a steep 20 min climb---- very steep. If your not reasonably fit , you'll struggle. All in all a lovely holiday and a different experience.
We are delighted our guests enjoyed staying in our 'home away from home'. And there is no question that the views from our roof terrace are well worth the approx. 5-minute uphill walk from the nearest parking space! We are always on hand to meet our guests and usually help them to carry their luggage up to the house if necessary.

"Delightful Village, House and Hosts"
Montejaque is a wonderful village and our stay in ‘Las Hormigas’ was a joy. Carolyn and Kevin were lovely hosts and on one day took us on a superb walk in the hills. Las Hormigas is perched high up in the village and has incredible views from the rooftop terrace where we had our meals. It is also very comfortable and characterful, and the four of us fitted in with room to spare. There is so much to do with Montejaque as a base – from hilly walks in the outstanding scenery to trips to Rhonda and the other nearby villages, as well as journeys further afield. Our week in Las Hormigas seemed to fly by and we are now intent on returning sometime soon.
We are thrilled these guests enjoyed Montejaque so much that they will return. And we love showing our guests some of the fantastic short walks in the area -- we are constantly being told we should write a book!
