Fully decorated with lovely furniture, this villa is light, spacious and immaculate throughout. With everything you could need to make your holiday as pleasurable as possible, this villa is a real home from home with the added bonus of a swimming pool, stunning views and wall to wall sunshine. This area averages about 300 days of sunshine a year so the odds of bad weather are minimal. The villa floor is stone tiled throughout making it very easy to keep clean. Choose to either dine inside or enjoy the weather and the view whilst you dine outside on the spacious covered veranda. There is a downstairs shower room which is very useful after a swim. Master bedroom with en suite shower room and separate lavatory. Twin and double share upstairs bathroom and lavatory. All have built in wardrobes. Twin room has TV with built in DVD player. The bedrooms all look out to the hills and when night falls, close the wooden shutters to ensure you wake up when you want to and not when the sun wants you to. There are plenty of shops on Esperaza and Couiza and a supermarket (5mins). Plenty of local speciality produce to try, like the Blanquette (Champagne), wines and nougat.

The pool is heated by the sun and so is only really useable May to October. The garden has it's own olive trees and fig trees which you are welcome to pick if you happen to be staying when they are ripe. The villa is set in 1000 sq metres of Mediterranean garden and is quite private. I'm sure you will be very tempted to stay and relax at the villa each day but if you fancy visiting one of the many attractions nearby, you will find it a very useful base for beaches, the skiing, the mountains, the towns and the historical sites. In fact there is so much to see and do in this area, you may well find yourself coming back.

The mountains of Languedoc-Roussillon reach heights of almost 3000 metres in the Pyrenees , with the peaks of Canigou (2784m) and Carlit (2921m), and more than 1500m in the Massif Central, topped by Mont Lozère (1699m) and Mont Aigoual (1565m).

Languedoc-Roussillon is honeycombed with caves and caverns, forming one of the richest areas of subterranean landscape in France.

About 15 of them are open to the public. They contain extraordinary shapes, stunning colours, narrow passages and vast chambers… and some surprising images that seem to be sculpted from rock, such as the hundred-thousand soldiers of the Grotte de Trabuc, or the Medusa’s head in the Grotte de Clamouse. In these mineral kingdoms, lakes and rivers sometimes appear.

From the Camargue to the Côte Vermeille (Vermillion Coast), the spectacular coastline of Languedoc-Roussillon stretches for 150 miles along the Mediterranean Sea. It has some of the finest French beaches, a warm climate and clear waters that are thought to promote health: a perfect combination for family vacations.

A mix of family holiday resorts, health spas and ancient fishing villages cluster along the shore, backed by a hinterland of untouched natural beauty.

“Fantastic views and beautiful location”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2015

We stayed with our 3 children (8, 6 & 3) and the villa was perfect. Good size, stunning views and the pool was fantastic. Esperaza was a lovely place with a fantastic Sunday market which is a real must. Local supermarket a 2-3 min drive away and we all also managed to walk in to Esperaza (15-20 min) in the evenings to spend time in the local restaurants. Rennes le Château definitely worth a visit as is Cite de Carcassonne. We also took a drive up into the Pyrenees to visit Grotte de Fontrabiouse which was an amazing experience.

“A lovely, well equipped house with beautiful views in an incredibly interesting area.”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2014

The house is in very good condition and has everything in it that you could possibly want. The welcome bottle of wine was a lovely touch as was the call to check that all was well from Rose, the contact person. What a joy to actually have comfortable beds while on holiday and with good quality linen. We had not realised that the house was in the foothills of the Pyrenees which means that it is very green and there are stunning views of the hills from the house and patio. There is so much to see in the area that three weeks was not enough time to do it justice. It is an easy 20 minute walk into Esperaza which has a range of shops and a wonderful sunday market and the supermarket and several wineries are only a five minute drive away. Rose and Terry were the most supportive couple I have come across in 15 years of holiday rentals and certainly made the holiday more enjoyable. The only downside was that the upstairs TV did not work and there were no DVDs.

“Wonderfull house in 'real France' with great views.”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2014

A wonderfull house and outdoor space. A great place to relax. Plenty of things to do, for all ages, in surrounding area. Rose and Terry, just a phone call away ,were very helpfull. We have now decided we would like to live in this area.

“Relaxing stay, had everything we could possibly want”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2014

The villa is situated in a lovely position - quiet and private with a great views onto the surrounding hills. Both Esperaza and Couiza are only a 5 min drive away with a good variety of cafes, shops and restaurants. There is loads to do in the surrounding area provided you have a car, the highlight for us being canoeing down the Aude which was tremendous fun.

“Fantastic views, villa offered all you could possibly need for a fab break”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2014

We travelled here with some friends for our annual French break. What a lovely surprise, the villa was kitted out with everything you could possibly want. Pool was great and the views were fantastic. Essential shops were within a good walk. This location is idealy suited as a springboard to many interesting places to visit. The holiday villa proved so good that our friends immediately booked for a further stay within a few weeks. You do need a car to make the most of this marvellous setting. Highly recommended.

“Lovely bright house in a great location”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2013

We first stayed in this house in September 2009 and have just come back from a weekend in March 2013. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Once again the house didn’t disappoint. It is in a lovely area between the two villages of Couiza and Esperaza ( a short drive or 15 minutes walk to either one). It is extremely peaceful. The house is well equipped, light and comfortable with lovely views. There is a nice terrace looking towards the mountains for breakfast or for a relaxing evening drink at the end of the day . There are plenty of towels, bedding and kitchen utensils. The people who maintain the house are exceptionally friendly and helpful and they live in the area. As it was March they ensured the central heating was on if we needed it and although we were blessed with very good weather we did need it in the evening. When we were there in the summer we enjoyed the lovely pool area. On a general note the house is in a great place for exploring the area, in particular. Esperaza is right on the river and has a fabulous Sunday market which is a must, the fresh produce is wonderful, there is also a very good butchers in Esperaza; Quillan, another market town has quite a few good places to eat, of the many would recommend La Galerie, Quillan also has a train/bus service to Carcassonne which was excellent and only 2 euros return each!; Limoux has a lovely square where you can watch the world go by or explore it's winding streets, you'll get a good value set lunch, one of the best supermarkets in the area, Le Clerc is only about 5 minutes from Limoux ; Rennes le Bain, is a lovely little spa town were you can take a nice stroll over the quaint bridges or relax under the plane trees and Rennes le Chateau which you can reach through the village of Couiza, it winds up a long twisting road to the top but you are rewarded by breathtaking views towards the Pyrenees and there is a very interesting little church. We would also recommend Domaine Gayda in Brugairolles (23.95 euros for 3 courses with wine to match the food) again it has panoramic views of the Pyrenees.

“Misleading description”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2012

The property was okay although the pool was smaller than the pictures would suggest. We always holiday with elderly parents and were disappointed in that the property was not suitable for those with restricted mobility. We pointed out that the property details on the website were therefore misleading in this respect and were assured that this was a genuine mistake and would be amended. This has not been done and we would just like to warn potential visitors that the access to the property is difficult for those with restricted mobility.

“Lovely pool with lovely views”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2012

After a week spent near Limoge where the temperatures were very hot it was great to arrive ar Rennes View and have full usage of the lovely clean pool.Really enjoyed lazing around it looking out at the surrounding hills.Well worth a visit is Rennes le Chateau which is on the top of the hill seen from the house.Lovely bedrooms and light and airy open plan lounge/diner and kitchen.Although we had mixed weather it was great watching the thunderstorms on an evening from the patio window.
