Location description from owner

The Western Cape region

The Keisie Valley is part of the Little Karoo region of South Africa. Featuring a hot, dry climate this region is famous for its spectacular folded mountain ranges surrounding valleys filled with fertile grape and fruit farms.

Montagu

Hiking and biking trails wander through dramatic mountain-scapes, featuring fascinating geological formations which were formed at the time that the Earth's first plant and animal life emerged on the land. Picturesque farms cluster along the rivers while the largely inaccessible surrounding fold mountains are home to many different animal and bird species. The quiet and peaceful Keisie Valley is an ideal place to relax and reconnect with nature. The nearby town of Montagu offers a number of sporting and recreational activities, as well as more than twenty fine restaurants and eateries.

“Jackybird Farm Accommodation”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2014

From the moment we arrived in torrential rain and were greeted by Farmer Brown in his gumboots, were knew this would be a memorable stay. Steffie soon had us settled into the cottage, which has all the comfort requirements, and before we knew it, we were relaxing in this piece of Paradise. A walk round the farm is a must and we were fortunate to see the trees and vines laden with young grapes and apricots, fresh veggies aplenty (we were allowed to choose some for our salad) and the olive trees looking healthy for their next crop. Tom joined us for a braai (barbecue) and was a source of information on farming and the countryside. Thanks Tom and Steffie, we will come again, but will allow an extra day. Di & Billy

Very clean and fairly modern. Our expectations were fully met. The manager was also very friendly and accommodating.

It was tranquil and relaxing. Watching the sunset in the evening was breathtaking. Will definitely be going back again.

“Tranquility and comfort on a working farm”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2014

One of the best, most comfortable, well appointed guest cottages we have had the pleasure to stay in. Fairly close proximity to Cape Town, situated in a beautiful peaceful valley, very friendly accommodating hosts in Tom and Yvonne Brown. Wonderful olive products and fresh organic vegetables. We love every aspect of this place. Have visited a number of times and look forward to another stay again soon.

“Harmonie Farm Cottage provides the perfect escape for those in search of tranquilityon the most beautiful working farm!”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2014

What a beautiful place. The cottage has everything you need for the perfect stay. One gets a real taste of farm life, with beautiful walks and amazing scenery. Also, only 20km from Montagu so it's nice a close if you want to visit the Saturday market or stop for tea. We were also lucky enough to purchase some delicious olives, olive oil and fresh veggies straight from the farm. I will definitely visit again and highly recommend Harmonie Farm Cottage for those looking to escape the city and delight in all that nature has to offer - an absolute delight!

“Country charm in serene mountain valley”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2014

After a long and stressful week, we made it out of the city for an impromptu getaway. Harmonie Cottage was the perfect breath of fresh air. The long front stoep is the perfect place for morning tea, stories, knitting and backgammon as the mountain you look out on changes colour. At night we lay on the lawn and star-gazed at the magnificent night sky and stoked a hearty fire on same stoep. This is a great, accessible, comfortable break from the city, that does not require to much planning, as everything you need is there, or in the nearby town of Montagu. We came home heavy-laden with the fantastic olive oil and olives produced on the farm, also organic butternut, salads and herbs. There's ample dirt track for cycling and walking. Child-friendly and easy.

“Great staying on a working farm in spectacular surroundings”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2014

From the start of our visit we were made to feel very welcome by our host Tom and Yvonne. The accommodation was sparkling clean and had everything we needed to feel really comfortable. It being a working farm gave us the opportunity to walk around and see how a farm runs. The workers all seem very happy and involved. If you really want to get the feel of the place be prepared to walk around and don't be afraid to ask questions. Recommended is a tractor ride up the mountain in the Koo valley which is a few kilometers away. We manged to get Tom to sell us some of his delicious olives and olive oil - don't miss this opportunity. What can I say - a delightful, restful stay and a bit of a learning experience for us.
