Garden Cottage is situated in the village of Monkland North Herefordshire. Monkland is a very pretty village and the property is set in a village location away from the A44 with outlook to orchard and open fields. There are scenic walks on the doorstep. It's the perfect location for a relaxing holiday in rural Herefordshire.

It is a new house that has been decorated and finished to a very high standard with solid oak flooring and oak doors throughout. The effect being a spacious homely house with all the mod cons expected for modern day living. Quality duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels are provided. Cot, stair-gate and highchair available on request.

Upstairs offers an en-suite master bedroom with a double bed and en-suite shower room and toilet. A further 2 twin rooms with a shared bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

The garden is private with patio and sitting out area overlooking open fields. There are large spacious grounds which can be used to play football and games with the children.
Gas barbecue provided.

The house has full oil central heating.

We can offer a food hamper at cost on request, just send us a shopping list. We also offer a catering service if required.

Ample area for car parking on the property.

Well behaved dogs are welcomed by arrangement.

This is the ideal holiday base for keen walkers who would like to walk stretches of Offa's Dyke and follow the Mortimer's Trail. There are also many activities to choose from including cycling, fishing or horse riding and there are several golf courses in the area. National Trust properties and Gardens are nearby such as Croft Castle, Berrington Hall, Brockhampton and The Weir Garden. Hampton Court and Hergest Croft Gardens are all within easy reach.
There is a public footpath that runs through Monkland where you can enjoy delightful walks on the doorstep or you can visit The Monkland Cheese Dairy which is a working dairy, producing local artisan cheeses which you can buy at their shop. They also have a café where you can sit and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a lovely piece of homemade cake or lunch. You can also take a tour of how they make the cheese on their 'Cheese Experience Days'. If you are interested please let us know in advance.

Leominster "The Town of the Marches" (pronounced Lemster) is the nearest market town approximately 2 miles away, dating back to the 7th century, offers a variety of shops and pubs and numerous antique shops to browse around.

Visit the historic thriving town of Ludlow which is a 20 minute northerly drive away. The town boasts a medieval castle and is renowned for its culinary delights and has an interesting open market held weekly in the square. The town also has its own Food Festival held every September.

Hereford city is a 30 minute southerly drive away where you can visit the Mappa Mundi and chained library (the world's oldest map) at the Cathedral. Visit the Cider Museum and sample some Herefordshire cider which the county is renowned for.

Follow the black and white village trail of timber framed houses and churches set in picturesque villages such as a Weobley, Pembridge and Eardisland. The trail covers about 40 miles around the villages. Many of these houses date back to the sixteenth century. These villages are minutes away by car with many interesting pubs, cafes and restaurants where you can sample local foods.

The town of Hay on Wye set at the foot of the Brecon Beacons is another treasure to see. Known as "The Town of Books" Hay-on-Wye is a destination for all book lovers with over thirty bookshops, many selling specialist and second-hand books. It is a 30 minute westerly drive away. The Hay Festival is held from May 23rd to June 2nd every year.

Ledbury is another very interesting town 30 minutes away by car in an easterly direction with a significant number of timber framed properties. It has a beautiful timber framed market house built in 1617 in the town centre. The town is host to various events including a Poetry Festival and The Big Chill at Eastnor Castle which attracts thousands of people every year. Malvern town is a ten minute drive on again from Ledbury - another treasure I could go on and on!

There is so much to do and see your biggest challenge will be fitting it all in.
