The Tuscany region

The Tuscan Region of Italy is well known for its warm balmy summers, beautiful countryside, rolling hills, mouth - watering food, and of course its towns and villages, rich with medieval architecture…

The Garfagnana region of Tuscany, often known as its ‘Green Lung’ is situated away from the milling crowds that can often be found at the most famous Tuscan locations and is totally unspoilt, remaining untouched by tourism.

The scenery is spectacular, green and mountainous with views of both the Apuane and Appenine mountains at every turn…And, due to the altitude whilst the weather can be very hot, it is always pleasantly cool for sleeping…

The food is usually home made, using home grown produce, and is typically simple and extremely tasty. Prices here remain very reasonable due to the fact that food is prepared with the locals, and not tourists in mind…The local wine is cheap and surprisingly drinkable!

The pace of life is slow and peaceful – spend your days enjoying secluded picnics, swimming in rivers, or watching locals play bocce or ‘cheese throwing’. Visit hundreds of ancient hill top villages, or relax at home basking in stunning scenery.

For ‘townie’ days, visit the mediaeval towns of Barga, Lucca, Castelnuovo, with Pisa and Florence within easy reach too…

Molazzana

The properties are situated on a hill just 300 metres from the village of Molazzana and there are absolutely beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and the woody mountains of the Apuan Alps and the Appenines from both the houses and garden. The village itself has a bar, and a small shop good for basics/essentials, and Gallicano with its shops, restaurants and hypermarket is only a 10/15 minute drive away.

The market town of Castelnuovo with its Thursday morning market, bars, restaurants and shops is only 15/20 mins away too.

Barga the beautiful medieval town, with its wonderful architecture, Duomo, good restaurants and regular outdoor entertainment Barga, is nearby, and the medieval walled city of Lucca less than an hour away.

Florence and Siena can be reached for day trips, and Pisa with its only airport is 1hour and 20 minutes away. The Versilian coast is reached in little over an hour either via Lucca or more spectacularly by crossing through the Apuan Alps.

Total solitude mixed with convenience .....

“Stunning location with magnificent views”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2015

Two well equiped properties with everything you would need to enjoy your holiday. The pool is a decent size and cleaned daily. Plenty of sun loungers around the property and garden. Two seperate eating areas with large tables, near the bbq and outdoor kitchen. The bbq and pizza oven are well maintained and we used daily. The views are spectacular and you never bore of looking at them. The directions from the airport are brilliant and Alberto is very helpful with local knowlede and information. The dirt track to the property is part of the adventure and you soon get used to it. A truely relaxing location and holiday.

Thank you for your review! We are glad that you loved the place, and those amazing views. Alberto hopes to welcome you again.

“A Tuscan treat”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2014

This holiday rental as described is in two villas It accommodated us with ease.It is well equipped and well presented. it is situated in a gated plot so it is secure. It nestles in woodland that opens up to valley views which are stunning. The track leading to the property can be a little unnerving if you arrive in a large people carrier at night but once mastered its ok. Plenty of space for children to let of steam and the pool provides entertainment.Sit on the terrace in the evening with a glass of wine and a meal, watching the fireflies moving about the vineyard. Wifi is available at additional cost
