Moffat

Moffat was a sheep farming market town steeped in history from the covenanters, King Robert the Bruce and braveheart himself William Wallace. Merlin is reputed to have lived in a cave below Hartfell the highest mountain in southern Scotland. Robert Burns used to frequent the Black Bull Hotel adjoining our cottage. Places to visit are the Grey Mares Tail waterfall, St Mary's Loch and the Devils Beef Tub. The Famous Star Hotel (Guinness book of records narrowest hotel) and taste some Moffat toffee.
