“Wonderful house in a beautiful area”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2016

We have just returned from a few days break at this beautiful house over New Year. It was the first time that the whole of my family have got together in one place at one time. What a fantastic house and set in such stunning countryside. All the rooms were beautifully furnished and yet felt very homely and relaxing. (Hope that makes sense!) The kitchen was well equipped and it was lovely to be able to all sit down in the dining room for dinner (all 17 of us) Despite being a huge house, the two log burning stoves kept the downstairs warm and the bedrooms, I found, were a comfortable temperature too. We had all ages from my mum who is 85 down to the newest member of the family just 9months old but we all found plenty to keep us busy and there were walks for all abilities close by. The only thing that could improve things in the kitchen we felt would be a second large fridge as we struggled to fit all the food we had delivered for the 5 days in the one fridge. As the weather was cool we were able to keep some things by the back door. Otherwise we had no complaints. Thankyou for giving us the chance to experience living in a wonderful house like this for a few days. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

“We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful large country house set in spectular surroundings.”

We used the house as a base for our corporate team away day. Nine of us stayed for two nights and the house was perfect - whether in the formal dining room, the snug lounge, the billiard room, or any of the 9 bedrooms, the rooms are all beautifully appointed but still have a nice lived in feel (it's not so grand that it doesn't feel homely). It's a great place for entertaining with a well equipped kitchen and lots of space. This was a good and welcome alternative to the typical hotel chain for a corporate away day. We also used the services of Rosset Bespoke Butlers during our stay - Simeon took care of so much for us and was a worthwhile investment in making the stay even more enjoyable! A wee dram of Glenfiddich in front of the log burning fire on a cold November night tasted so good in these beautiful surroundings!

“Truly Memorable!! Exceeded all our needs and expectations.”

The weekend we spent at Dumcrieff with all our children/grandchildren for my 70th will remain long in all our memories!. There were 18 of us...mostly from late teens through 30/40,s to 70, with two young ones at 6 and 8 years old. Everyone single one thoroughly enjoyed it and made great use of all the inside/outside facilities thoughtfully provided by the owners. From the moment the owners, Philip and Demetra, handed over the keys and the way they explained the house, the facilities at our disposal and various equipment, we all felt immediately comfortable with the house and its surroundings. For main meals , we did a mix of a take-away. ( Claudio's in Moffat did an excellent job ) and, our own meals. Every piece of equipment imaginable was available in the kitchen to help with this approach. From the quality existing in every area of the house, it is obvious that a great deal of thought consistently goes into providing guests with the best of experiences. The local environment offers many opportunities for outdoor activity to complement the very comfortable indoor aspects of the House. Truly wonderful!! We are already talking about going back 1

“A wonderful period property prepared for modern day living”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2015

Such a breath-taking house made such a fantastic stay! From the moment you drive up to the front door until you climb into one of the huge comfortable beds at night, you are amazed by this wonderful old house. Such charm and character oozes from all of the many rooms, big enough for 18 ladies to relax and enjoy the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The kitchen has every piece of equipment you could imagine. Everywhere in the house is spotlessly clean, especially the many bathrooms. We enjoyed a formal dinner in the dining room and an informal BBQ on the terrace. The owners couldn't have done any more for us, taking us round the house on our (early) arrival and showing us where everything was and how everything worked. You get lost upstairs as you go from one huge bedroom to the next - we were like children (and actually all agreed our children would love it!) We sat outside most of the first night enjoying the views in complete private. Following shooting at a local estate the following day, caterers (familiar with the house) brought dinner and served it to us in the dining room that comfortably sits 18. There is plenty of space, multiple sitting and drawing rooms with Sky TV (if you ever get the time to watch it) and wifi. We will definitely be back. We all simply loved it.

“This house is amazing”

We stayed at Dumcrieff house for my daughters hen weekend. It was perfect in every way. I would highly recommend it and will definitely book it again. We all had a fantastic time and went into Moffat to the Buccleuch for dinner on the Saturday night which was also excellent. Amazing weekend .

“Fantastic house with 5 star quality for a great weekend away with friends.”

“Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 26 Nov 2014

We chose this house as it was conveniently located for a re-union of Uni friends, some who live in England, some in Scotland. It's located only about 10 mins from the motorway. The house is beautiful, and very well equipped and maintained. We were a group of 11 adults and 4 infants. The site does say it may not suitable be suitable for infants due to the close proximity of the river, but we had no issues with this, the river is well fenced off from the garden. The bedrooms are stunning and bathrooms equally so. The kitchen is well- equipped and fantastic as a family room while the toddlers ate. The reception rooms are spacious and there's even a large formal dining room, where we ate our Indian takeaway on our first night! It was November when we were there so, yes, it was cold, but that's only to be expected, so bring slippers and a warm jumper or 2! The crowning glory for us was the grounds. The toddlers loved it, splashing in puddles and collecting leaves. We can't recommend Dumcrieff highly enough and look forward to booking it again soon.
