Tastefully decorated and beautifully furnished, this is not just a holiday home; it is a home from home, and you can stay in touch with free fast WiFi. There is a sofa-bed in the lounge which is a double bed size, but better for one person, which is why we say the house sleeps five.
Late or early arrivals are not a problem. Don't waste money on an airport hotel! We live in a nearby village, so are always available to meet you with keys and answer any questions you may have.
Guests who prefer to arrive via public transport from Valencia to Gandia (our nearest railway station) can be collected by arrangement, or taxis are available outside the train station. We can also arrange collection from Alicante or Valencia airports.
Miramar is a very small traditional Spanish village surrounded by orange groves which lead to the beach. We benefit from a very sensitive mayor who allows new housing development on the outskirts of the village, but has worked very hard to preserve the antiquity of the centre, where we are. Beautifully sculpted trees line the roads, and any renovation has to be sympathetic with the original "feel" of the village.
Casita Verde is on the village town hall square, in a relaxing pedestrianised environment with fountains and sculpted orange trees. The street outside the house is also pedestrianised - no traffic noise or smells! There are a number of beautifully landscaped parks just a few moments' stroll away.
The roof terrace is private, and is perfect for getting an all-over tan. The sun is on the terrace most of the day, and the pergola provides the option of shade or sun. Sun loungers are provided. There is a cooling shower for refreshment.
Casita Verde is an excellent choice for a well-deserved break, a romantic getaway, family holiday, chill-out or the centre for exploration.
The Valenciana region
Miramar is in the La Safor area of the Valencia Community, with green and lush valleys filled with extensive orange groves which scent the fertile landscape. The dramatic and impressive La Safor mountain range rises behind Gandia, the historic capital of La Safor. Gandia is a bustling Mediterranean town offering great shopping and countless bars and restaurants, offering an international range of inexpensive menus and local wines or gourmet fine-dining and sommelier selection. Gandia has a thriving music and cultural scene, with a number of Cinemas, Theatres, Clubs and Discos for the young-at-heart and has one of the best beaches in the area which for many years been the favourite holiday destination for Spanish people. The beautiful Blue Flag beaches with their golden sands stretch along the shoreline for some ten miles and have an impressive range of medical stations, lifeguards and, in the summer, beach cafés.
Playa Miramar is a small friendly and quiet resort with a wide, very long, sandy blue flag beach offering safe shallow waters for swimming. The long promenade lined with palm trees is popular with locals for their evening stroll and within the beach area there are many small shops, local bakers, numerous bars & good restaurants.
Valencia's international airport (only 45 minutes from Gandia) has cheap flights making La Safor an inexpensive and easy region to access. While desirable, a car is not essential since easy public transport takes you directly from Valencia airport to Gandia, with Miramar a short taxi trip further. Alicante airport is only an hour or so away by car. Transfers from either airport can be arranged upon request.
The La Safor region is unspoilt and more beautiful than any other Spanish coastal region, where tiny pueblos nestle in amongst the citrus groves and have remained largely unchanged for generations. Forming part of the Costa Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast) the delightful name speaks for itself. The province of Valencia benefits from 320 days of sunshine each year with average daytime temperatures ranging from 15-32 degrees Celsius. This area has a gentle climate, allowing those staying in La Safor to enjoy an al fresco lifestyle during a large part of the year.
The region has a long tradition of fiestas undiminished by time. The Fallas in March provide a spectacular example of the exuberance of Spanish celebration, and the Moors and Christian festivals celebrate the history of the region. A strong community spirit exists within a tolerant, good humoured and kindly local population who are welcoming to visitors. Children still play freely and safely in the roads and squares. The traditional siesta is a firm institution with shops and offices closing between 2pm to 4pm throughout the year. A Spanish Sunday remains a traditional day of tranquillity.
Valencia city is famous for its sporting, cultural and commercial achievements. A wonderful, historic city with fabulous shopping and breathtaking architecture which includes the astonishing City of Arts and Sciences, it has sufficient cultural attractions to satisfy even the most demanding. With an inexpensive direct half-hourly train service from Gandia or only one hour drive from Miramar it is easily accessed. The new direct, high-speed rail link means a journey from Gandia to Madrid takes only three and a half hours in relaxed comfort.
Within an hour's drive are Guadalest, Port America's Cup, The Valencia Grand Prix, Cheste Motor Cycle Championship Racing, The Benidorm Palace, Terra Mitica, Aqualandia, The Albufera Wetlands, Valencia Bioparc Zoo, Museums and Galleries, and Lladro Factory. Closer-by visitors can enjoy Fishing, Oliva Nova Golf, Go-Karting, Jet-Ski and Boat Hire, Naturist Beaches, Mountain Rambling and Walking, Cycling, Historic Buildings, Palaces, Monasteries, Churches and Castle ruins to explore. Denia and Calpe are only half an hour drive south and a number of ceramics, leather-goods outlets and shopping centres provide ample opportunities to support the local economy!

Casita Verde is located just off the Miramar Town Hall square with gardens and fountains and has plenty of parking available on the street nearby. The many local shops, bars, restaurants (including a fabulous Chinese Restaurant with a four-storey chocolate fountain!), covered swimming pool, post office, doctors, chemists and supermarkets of the town are a stroll away. There are beautifully landscaped gardens, including one with a magnificent lily pond just around the corner. The Blue Flag sandy beach resort of Playa Miramar is less than 1 km, or a 20 minute walk away. Playa Miramar is a small friendly and quiet resort with a wide, very long, sandy blue flag beach offering safe shallow waters for swimming. The Population of Miramar is approximately 2,000 almost entirely Spanish, although English is spoken in some places. “Everything yopu need and more”
From the outside Casita Verde looks small, nestling between two properties in a quiet, pedestrianised street in one of the tidiest, well-kept villages in Spain. But as you go inside it opens out like Dr Who's Tardis with all the mod cons needed for modern living, even broadband wifi, an absolute boon for the sad ones among us who need to do some work on their holiday. There are fans and air-conditioning for when the weather gets hot and you can eat in the shade on the roof terrace or bask in the sun on recliners. There were even the essentials for a beach visit, including beach umbrella The really nice part is that you don't need a car. All the village shops and bars (very good too) are walkable within just a few blocks, and the beaches (uncommercial and uncrowded) are only one kilometre away. The locals are really friendly and helpful, especially if, like us, the language is a struggle – food and drink extremely good value. Of course if you have a car there are loads of interesting places to visit - leave the car in Gandia and get a train to Valencia for the day if you want to experience Spanish city life. It was a wonderful, thoroughly relaxing experience, and worthy of a return visit.
“Great Pad, great location great host's”
This is our second trip to Casita verde- and we expect to return agin in the future. Its location is perfect- a great balance of not being caught in a tourist trap but without feeling disconnected- the beach is only a 10 minute walk, the local towns of Gandia and Oliva, a short drive, and Miramar village has adequate amenities to keep the fridge topped up. Casita Verde is light, bright and charming. The bonus is the roof top terrace, great for lazy afternoon sunbathing, barbecuing and long evening vino drinking! The Hosts, Bob and Kay, have been great from Booking through to departure, happy to help, and even came for an evening barbecue. Thanks for a great week, and see you soon!
“Perfect escape away from the busy tourist resorts”
The house was lovely, very well equipped, and spotlessly clean. We made full use of the gas barbecue on the roof terrace, and the extra fridge at roof level. It would have been nice to have wifi, but we didn't really miss the internet much. The chinese restaurant is now closed and has become a chinese bazaar, but there is a new Consum supermarket within 5 minutes walk from the house.
We are so glad you had a good stay! We are looking at a more cost-effective way to get wifi into the house. At the moment it is quite costly, but it is available. At your request, a garlic peeler has been procured! We think that completes the kitchen requirements!
“Bob was nice, quiet neighbourhood, free parking, roof terrace”
We had a really nice stay at Miramar. The location is a bit remote from Allicante and Valencia airports, so you should rent a car if you want to see more than the beach. Miramar is a lovely town with everything you need and a lovely blue flag beach only 1km from Casita Verde. The house itself is well equipped with everything you need. Washing machine, dishwasher, aircon x3, tv, satellite (bbc etc), stereo, gas barbecue, bathtub, two bedrooms ++. Bakery and butcher just a few steps away, restaurants and bars + a supermarket not to far away. The town Gandia with its lovely market is just 10min by car, Oliva is also 10minutes away with a nice marked some adys of the week. Valencia is just a little over an hour away, Alicante just under two hours. And Bob was really helpful - please say hello from me :) Enjoy your vacation!
“Very relaxing holiday”
We found the house to be very clean @ well equipped. Owners were very kind and helpful. One small drawback was lack of eateries locally but overall we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. I would recommend this casita for anyone who likes a quiet and relaxing stay. I would consider returning in the future.
“Every box ticked”
Exactly what we were looking for: a remarkably well-equipped house in a quiet village but only a short walk from the beach and its buzz. It suited the two of us (plus dog) perfectly and is set to become a regular retreat.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, and that you will return! It was a pleasure to have you as guests. We are working on a more permanent wifi solution......
“Best equipped house we have ever stayed in”
Thanks Bob and Kay we had a great time. House ideal for us, well positioned to see everything we wanted to. We were having a "lazy" time so we did not cook but there is everything you need for self catering.
