“Perfect centre for visiting the Scottish Borders”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2013

Sheila and Kevan met us when we arrived, and welcomed us with tea and scones, a very nice touch. This is a very attractive cottage, perfect for two and a dog; it is warm and comfortable, well equipped, and the garden for visitors' use was immaculate and delightful. We were able to visit many of the lovely places within easy reach of Minto, such as Abbotsford, Hermitage Castle, Little Sparta, Monteviot Gardens, and the Abbey towns of Melrose, Kelso and Selkirk, which still leaves lots to see and do next time. The Auld Cross Keys pub at Denholm deserves special mention for a terrific atmosphere, and the food at Burts Hotel in Melrose was very good.

“Superb base for the Borders and visiting Edinburgh”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2013

Coming back for an eighth year probably says it all. Whether playing golf , which we do, or visiting the area - including Edinburgh less than an hour's drive - Stable Cottage has all the comfort needed for a holiday. The Borders is a hidden gem and staying in this accommodation completes a perfect week.

“Excellent cottage in beautiful setting”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2013

Our fourth (but certainly not our last) stay in Stable Cottage, opposite the golf course in the conservation village of Minto. Always a warm welcome from the owners and perfect hosts Kevan and Sheila (including home made cakes) at this well appointed very comfortable property which has a beautiful enclosed courtyard to relax in at any time, especially at the end of enjoyable days exploring the surrounding countryside. Ideally situated for long or short walks by rivers, over hills and in forests, or for exploring nearby villages and attractions. Only 1 mile from Denholm with its local butcher, shop, pubs and village green, and only 7 miles from the larger towns of Hawick and Jedburgh for major shopping and tourist facilities. Nearby attractions include Melrose Abbey, Jedburgh Abbey, Dryburgh Abbey, The Eildon Hills, The Waterloo Monument, Floors Castle, Smailholme Tower, Abbotsford, Bowhill, the small, picturesque Fatlips Castle and many more to find and enjoy. For those wanting to go further afield, Edinburgh and the East coast, including Lindisfarne are within easy reach. Whether you want an active walking holiday, a more leasurely drive or stroll around the nearby little villages, churches and abbeys, a golfing holiday, or just to relax and unwind, this area has it all, and this cottage is the perfect place to do it from. How ever long you stay, it will never be long enough!
